If you have the space in a garage or basement, …here’s a quick 600 gallon fix for water that does not have to be rotated. And it can be expanded to meet your space and budget.

From the point at which you have potable water entering your system, connect a series of five 120 gallon NSF certified retention tanks.

Plan the series out for its plumbing. In the top, out the bottom, for example. With ball valves in appropriate locations. Not forgetting to include valved low point drains. Unions are a practical addition as well. Remember to add air vents as these tanks could collapse under negative pressure when drained.

Your water continuously flows through these tanks as it is being used in your home. Eliminating the need to rotate the supply.

The tanks stand upright, taking advantage of height and making the best use of space.

Thank you for the video, it was very helpful. I have been storing water in glass wine bottles. I have to buy some corks still because I am not sure if any air will leach in from the ceranwrap I have on it tightened with an elastic. Not sure if that’s good enough?

Desalination is not hard to do, but it's hard if want alot of fresh water. Okay, just to drink, the rest done with brackish water. So what if cook pasta in brackish water. Lol Sarcasm but true. Can also immerse cook within a Ziploc plastic bag. Small aluminum or I prefer stainless steel pan inside of a bigger pan, best wrap plastic or aluminum foil wrap over it all, it through condensation goes fresh water into the smaller one.. Biggest concern having enough of a heat source, if no electricity or gas available. Even stranded at sea, a pan with plastic wrap covering the salt water, The Sun will do the condensation and fresh water drops slowly will accumulate on top of the plastic wrap.

We use cat litter container for water storage. But these containers are labelled "non-potable" and are use for toilet flushing only. We are on well and these have come in handy during power failures.

This video is incredibly helpful since I'm starting to inform myself of all the basics that I need to purchase. I'm getting my first 45 gallon container (just like the blue ones in your videos). After properly washing it with dish soap, do I need to air it out? I'm assuming no since airborne stuff can get in it.. Do you have a tutorial on that?

I have canned some water up. Clear glass jars, pressure canned and sealed. Stored in a cool area out of the light. This should be fine, right? Its my well water from my tap in the kitchen...and its clean and potable. Is there any problem you can see with this?

I would suggest using a water filter or boiling water that has been stored for a long time before drinking it.

My set up is quite awesome but it's a tad expensive!

You need a dehumidifier 100$, a plastic 55gal barrel (about 100$) and a bottle of Purogene 128oz for 100$!

Take the barrel and place the dehumidifier on top and run the hose down and leave it running! It will not only fill the barrel but clean the air and reduce the stuffy air!

Now for every 10 gallons put two parts Purogen, two parts LEMON JUICE for every 10 gallons. 55gallons barrels are actually 59.9 so do it for 60 when the barrel is close to being full!

Congratulations! You now have a highly effective water to air generator that not only cleans the air but makes safe drinking water!

The good news is that this is WAY cheaper than online water generators, costing 1000$ or more. The bad news?

It does ding your electric bill!

Most bacteria don't like light, and prefer dark environments, because UV light will actually kill them.

Only photosynthetic bacteria, and things like algae need light to survive.

I worry about using Chinese gas water pump at camp and pump housing leeching lead. I have a flowing point well but camp is on the ridge. I only reuse water or vinegar bottles for drinking water. We use detergent bottles for hand washing water at camp. We use 65 gallon barrel for water at camp. You can buy new barrels from Tractor supply. Our well maybe saline. Calcium and gypsum being above shale as aquiclude. We do a double filter at camp. Once through Berkey buckets and the through pitcher filter. I drink water straight from well. But being a shallow well it can be contaminated easily.

Hey sir i have a question. You say to try to switch out water every 6 months right. Well after you pour out your 6 month old water to get new water, where do you get new water from? Do you count rain water as "new water" or do you just count sink water as "new water" or do you even count garden house water as "new water"? In your experience what is counted as "new" water. Ps thank you for the video.

1. Make sure water is disinfected.
2. Don't use containers that aren't meant for water or were used for other chemicals previously.
3 . Non-certified water storage devices can be prone to ingress of unwanted chemicals or infectious diseases

Pro tip: if stored properly, water doesn't spoil.

The video didn't need to be 15 minutes long.

I am in an apartment, so my storage is limited. But we love to drink San Pellagrino which comes is green glass bottles. We don’t drink from the bottles, and when empty I refill them with clean Berkey water. Little by little, over time, I have loads of clean water on hand! The small quantity and small container also allows me to share/trade easily.

Even if water goes bad. Boil it. Evaporate and recondence it. Filter it. Take your pick. Water can be cleaned and consumed. I would recommend processing your stored water before consuming. Just to be safe.
