No thanks. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to country music. They really should change the name of country-hip-hop to something else and remove the word "country" out of it. It has strayed too far to be considered country. Just like a dress and lipstick doesn't make a biological guy a biological woman, boots and a hat doesn't make a song country.

They said hip hop passed rock...bull crap! The record labels wont pay metal bands enough to make it worth their while to come tour in america. Its not that there isnt ppl in america who want to see metal bands...metallica sells out every show. I cant even tell you where to go see a hip hop concert i never here of them. Afroman played near here last year that was the only hip hop act i heard advertised ever. For whatever reason these record labels are pushing this crap out and telling ppl that its what everyone wants. I live near memphis and ive never even seen an advertisement for a hip hop show.

I'm 35 from Chicago we have a group called crucial conflict big in the early 90s. Their biggest hits is called Hay and Ride the Rodeo (my favorite part is when the girl sings "giddy up giddy up giddy up nah" over and over). Both are country music themed videos they used to play the video all the time on The Box, on the radio in clubs, it's still a popular hit with the 30+ crowd here. But Chicago is also a blues and lil country music city my aunt and her husband used to go line dancing, a few times they took me with them when they would go shopping for boots and hats in the Mexican neighborhoods 😂. And many folks here are from the deep south

If people actually know music, they would know the history between the two genres goes further back, and this is just all music sounding more modern with electronic instrumentation

Who is the idiot in this video who claims that a genre of music is defined by who is listening to it (white people, or black people, or middle class white people, etc.) rather than the sound of the music itself. No. Just nope. By the way, the banjo is NOT the foundational instrument for country music. That would be the guitar. So, what do you get when you mix country + rap? Crap.

Welcome to the world of inclusivity where your own culture gets completely wiped out by the newcomers who just was in. And the whole world ends up sounding exactly the same so there's no individuality left.

Talk about racism all you want. ITS ABOUT CULTURE. Rap IS NOT RNB AND RNB IS NOT COUNTRY. ROCK IS NOT JAZZ , JAZZ IS NOT CLASSICAL. And so on. THIS IS A CULTURAL KILLING. It could happen to rap, rock or ANY OTHER GENRE. THATS THE POINT. IM WHITE AND I DONT WANT 2 PAC or The king of pop MICHAEL JACKSON, or Elvis Presley to sound like Beethoven. THATS THE POINT.!!! EACH ARTIST AND GENRE HAS THERE OWN UNIQUE SOUND. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN EVERYTHING IS THE SAME? Not very DIVERSE OR BEAUTIFUL HUH? THE SAME IS HAPPENING WITH GENDER , RELIGION AND OTHER BELIEFS. BEING THE SAME WILL NOT CREATE PEACE. WE NEED TO LEARN TO HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS AND STILL LIVE TOGETHER.

That's not true, both Country Music and Hip Hop is controlled by the same people corporations, they are not owned by separate companies/people. Also, The Guitar dates back as far as 1,200 AD in Spain, it could be thousands of years old and is similar to the Lute, the banjo is just a 5 string guitar.

Country music, like rock is dead. Country is hip hop with a ridiculous fake southern accent. Rock like Bad company, 38 Special, Led Zeppelin, even Hall and Oats and new wave is gone. Country like Merle, Waylon, Willie, Alan Jackson and george Jones is gone. I knew it was dead when I heard Carrie Underwood saying she never listened to country music. If you pinned Taylor Swift down I doubt she did either.

I am one of the (probably few) country fans from Germany. My love for country music started rather accidentally in 2001, when country music was played here on the American Forces Network (AFN) and I always tuned in by chance. I still remember the 3 essential songs from that time that attracted me to the genre: "Hearts are gonna Roll" by Hal Ketchum, "No more looking over my shoulder" by Travis Tritt and "Riding with Private Malone" by David Ball. Then, since using the internet to research and get into the genre more and more, I found that almost all the songs I particularly liked were from the 90s. 90's country also seems to be a specific subgenre as I learned. In my opinion, country music reached its peak in this decade, the perfect combination of "staying true to the roots" but also "opening up to something more pop-oriented". No other genre has managed to either put a smile on my face (e.g. "Drink, Swear Steal and Lie" by Michael Peterson) or even move me to tears (e.g. "Concrete Angel" by Martina McBride). And still I discover great new titles from this decade. But what saddens me is what country music has become. Of course it's always a matter of taste, but I personally don't like modern country music anymore. I sometimes tune in and then turn away disappointed. There are still highlights like Chris Stapleton etc., but on the whole it has nothing to do anymore with the country music I learned to love.
