For anyone with a turbocharged 2.0T engine, first make sure that it's not the turbocharger wastegate stuck open. You'll know it, because the engine won't accelerate above 55mph, and there will be no characteristic turbo whine.

My 2013 Hyundai Sonata is really consuming oil. I have taken it to several dealers and they tell me that nothing can be done till the engine burns up. Then they’ll check it to see if how it failed. Depending on how it failed will decide if I get a new engine. I add oil every 300 miles or so. I’m going to just have to get a new car soon.

People are gonna but what they wanna buy if I or someone else told her sonata are what they are and it’s a bad car not to buy I highly doubt she would’ve listened enough to not still buy/Finance the car

Your so lost here, there is no such thing as a PARTIALLY BLOWN ENGINE! and this engine is not blown .your problem here is a failing transmission. I can hear your engine, and it sounds fine. No dealership would tell you to finish blowing the engine.!! A BLOWN engine literally means a rod has shot out the engine block. A BLOWN engine is totally destroyed, will not, and CANNOT RUN.

No such thing as a half blown engine.

Does anybody know the deal with Hyundai regarding paying for a rental ...My 2013 Hyundai Tuscon engine blown out of my state..They approved the replacement however it's probably sitting in some friggin container in California that can't get in ..As of now the engine is on back order according to the dealer.. They won't give me a loaner because there's none available ."So they say.. It's such a dirty business ..They are all full of shit ..I called corporate and they said they will pay $40 a day which will settle on the back end of this nitemare till the car is fixed ..I have nothing in writing..Don't wanna lay out all this cash to be screwed in the end. I'm under on the car...I feel so fucked. So far it's 3 weeks ...The car is somewhere in Bumfuck, VA while I live in Brooklyn NY....It's just beyond crazy ....They are also in bed with Enterprise and their rates are thru the roof .

Oh my God I'll never buy another Hyundai!! I have a 2015 with 114000 miles and its burning oil like crazy and rattling!! I got my lil changed a month later checked it and no oil!!!!!! No leaking but burning oil

You shouldn't have driven it at all after it started failing. It could throw a rod through the block and start a catastrophic engine fire; you could be injured or killed. Not worth it. Get a private attorney (not class action) and sue if they don't make it right. I'm late seeing the video; hope you did this.

I'm currently experiencing the same issue and haven't been to work for about a week now and this is my second week . Don't know what to do. It's at the dealership right now as I speak.

Unfortunately Hyundai’s quality has not gotten better. My ‘21 Sonata (bought BRAND NEW in July 2021) has been in the shop 3 times (this latest one since 11/3/21) and still, no fix. I’m also in the midst of a lemon law claim regarding it as my dealer told me to go forward with it.. But Hyundai’s customer service also sucks. Point blank, SUCKS. They haven’t gotten back to me in 10 days (they claim they have 72 business hours to get back) and haven’t responded to my numerous emails and voicemails in that time. I’ve called their service line and as nice as they are on the phone, they offer no help but to “send your case manager a note” essentially. Really sad but lesson learned.. never buying a Hyundai/Kia product EVER again.

I have a 2013 that they replaced my engine, computer and a few fuel pumps. It just took 3 months to get the engine and other issues replaced. Did not get a rental but Hyundai Customer Relations is reimbursing us for the one we rented. Good luck.

Going through some gas consumption issues on my 2012 Sonata and power loss issues when driving for 15-20 mins for over 50mph. Seems like a early issue to what you’re facing in this video. What did you end up doing with the car?

I had a 2011 Hyundai Sonata, the clear coat peeled really bad. The car burned lots of oil around 130,000 miles. I called the Hyundai 1800 number and they said if the car burned less than a quart per 1,000 miles, were good. wow. The engine seized while driving down the interstate at 170,000 miles. Took it to the dealership to get tested. Hyundai refused to help after charging 130$ for the "test", they said I didn't have the ECM recall updated even though the recall letters went to the previous owner. Very disappointed in this company. Put my family in a financial hardship to purchase another vehicle in a time where prices are high. I still have a deep connection and love for the people of South Korea :) but wont be purchasing another Hyundai ever.

I took my 2012 hyundai sonata to the dealership today and told me that I have to pay 108 $ for diagnosis cz it's not covered by hyundai plus I have to drive it 1000 miles and return it to them to complete the process. I'm just wondering why I have to pay for this diagnosis since hyundai have an engine recall ?

Your ECO is turned on also, that will cause the same symptoms making it seem like theres a problem.

My 2012 Hyundai Sonata limited started stalling out while I was driving and it started knocking and then the engine blown. It completely stopped working. But the Hyundai dealership that I go to takes care of me and my family lol. We got a brand new engine in a 2012 car!!! Now my car runs great.

If you have any advice pls help my cars just sitting at my local mechanic and I’ve called 3 Hyundai dealers that won’t let me tow the car there because they have a “high volume of tow ins” so I’m just waiting at this point. Got my new engine. It locked up without a warning at about 89,000. Took them a month to fix it. Then about 2 months after that the timing chair jumped time.... That took another week. But all didn't cost me a penny, so I'm glad about that. But I'll NEVER buy another

I was so psyched when I pulled into the dealership and there she was midnight black with her sleek curves and mean stance...I took her home that night, and it's been a nightmare since....no, it really hasn't been all that bad I love the look of the car still 7 and a half years later she still looks beautiful, BUT!!! I TOO have lost all confidence in her, I don't feel safe in the car it's barely running, pouring oil from somewhere I've been unable to locate, she surges when I put the pedal down, huge plumes of black sometimes white smoke, engine oil is literally everywhere besides inside the engine I'm so tired of dealing with this car the turbo hasn't worked forever, no boost. The antifreeze disappears to God knows where but the car never tells me the engines hot so who knows how long it was low or empty from coolant. It's a joke mind you besides the 8 recalls I've had I'm in the second engine and turbo replacement wow they just need to buy back all these cars ad lemons already
