I used to do pen and ink sketches of old buildings and towns. I miss doing it, but older now.

I grew up in the valley on the west side of cinnamon pass. My dad spent his 20s logging near american basin up there. Him and my mom are the two who restored Carson to what it is now.

There is something fascinating to me about places where people worked and lived but that are now abandoned and empty of the normal activities that go with human life. It also shows how fast nature claims back the places we inhabit.

Way, way too much screen time spent on two cars just driving on roads. Maybe 1/10th of the video is actually about the ghost towns.

A change in music genre/style would enhance the monotony of the landscape. Halfway through your doc has become more of the same. Friendly suggestion.

Thank you for highlighting my state’s history, Colorado is still a huge mining hub. Even a lot of smaller mines and quarries, like the the ones I work in, can make money. Still though, it’s incredible to see how much mines do for their surrounding towns. They’re a very large source of jobs, but now it’s very difficult for us to find workers, and that may end up putting some smaller companies out of business. It’s easy to see why there are so many abandoned mines and towns nearby when you work in the industry.

I think I missed this one first time around. Agree with what other say, this is almost a documentary and as always, your production and filming is just amazing. Love the music you pair with it too.

I worked at Ashcroft this summer a bit, and something interesting is that all the trees around it are younger than the town, being that when constructing it for all those people, they used all the surrounding trees.
