Appreciate the video sir. Just bought a pair of Thorogoods and put my first treatment of Huberds. Love them so far
ОтветитьBoth are great but if you have 6 inch wide paddle feet like I have, it’s gotta be carolina. They’re the only boots I’ve found that are wide enough.
ОтветитьHe used the can of boot oil to bust vicky’s cheeks later that night.
ОтветитьThorogood is assembled in usa woth global components. They outsource the majority of the boot
ОтветитьYou should try out the Irish Setter Wingshooters i think they are great boots and a little cheaper than the thorogoods, i would like to know which ones better
ОтветитьPersonally my experience with those particular boots, don’t resole them. The lasts are too soft.
ОтветитьDO NOT BUY I just bought a pair and 2 days of work I have a chunk out of the sole missing and they won’t make it right. $300 down the drain
ОтветитьMy great grandfather, grandfather, and father all have worn thorogood boots and love them! I can't find a pair of boots i like better!
Ответитьif i met a girl that starts talking about Hubbards boot grease at dinner on the first date, im not sure how i would react. Probably know i got my hands full.
ОтветитьWhen I was younger I worked pumping concrete and mudjacking, shotcreting etc. That job was terminal to work boots; 3-4 months per pair. It was the causticity of concrete and accelerants, and a lot of friction from guiding rock drill bits with our feet. So every three months or so I'd go to the store and either buy the same $139.99 pair of Dakota work boots, or a nicer pair if they were on sale.
Toward the end of my tenure I began putting rubber cement over the high-friction spots, especially on vulnerable stitching.
I don't do much work like that anymore, but I do have a clunky pair of Dakota work boots that get a little use here and there. When I put them on I am surprised by how comfortable they are, it's kinda like my feet are home again.
I have a new pair of grant stones for 300 bucks there pretty nice probably the nicest I ever put on
My foot in and I have Carolina’s with a vibbrum sole most comfortable boot ever after having a really good pro fix them it’s called sole man on 565 elmwood ave in buffalo New York great guy
I've worn Thorogood for 30 years because their price point was within my stipend for my employer. I tried Carolina's and they just don"t hold up as well as the Thorogood. I've changed to Whites Perry hybrid because they seem much better built for a 20% price premium now that I'm spending my own money.
ОтветитьI waer thorogood 6 inch moc toe steel toe boots
ОтветитьHello Scott i wanted to drop by and tell you my unique experience with the Thurogood boots i bought. I thought “If they’re good enough for The Essential Craftsman they’re good enough for The Tradesmen, that’s me. Well i can say from the outset the insole, foot bed, was very uncomfortable for me. No problem is swapped them for something else. I went on to use and abuse these boots for a while. I can say, for me, they absolutely hurt my feet. I have worked in construction for 35 years and now in my working carrier I’ve found i need a boot with a heal. Not sure why that is but after a long time i gave up on these boots. Glad they worked out for you but it was a no go for me.
ОтветитьJust a question for construction workers,is a boot with a heel safer on ladders?
ОтветитьThorogood i been looking for better looking boots but can't find any gonna pick up new thorogoods lol
ОтветитьThorogood for about 10 years. Love them
ОтветитьWhen you chucked those diehards I could feel the frustration from here. Those Thorogood boots are great, though. Perfect balance of price and quality, the best value IMHO.
ОтветитьMy Carolinas 8inch grind have have been my go to for the last 8 years super comfy out of the box i have recently rotating them with a piar of wolverine moc toe wedge sole and its been great.
ОтветитьOwned both and I agree with your assessment .
ОтветитьDid you get the same size in the thoros as the Carolinas u had before?
Ответитьdanner meb or acadia would blow these things out of the water.
ОтветитьAren’t they really cold in the winter because they aren’t insulated?
ОтветитьI've driven all over Southern Illinois on multiple occasions searching to find a single pair of thorogood moc toe boots with a moc toe stitch that appears the same on both the left and right boots. While I completely admit to being pretty particular about how my clothes and shoes/boots are made, I don't think it's too much to ask, when spending that amount of money, for the toe stitch to be in the proper location on a pair of moc toe boots.
ОтветитьI could probably listen to you talk all day man
ОтветитьI'm wearing both a pair of thorogood and Carolina. Wear them both nearly everyday
ОтветитьHaving worked in & worn out many times over both Thorogoods 814-4200 & Redwing 875, the Thorogoods are just a better work boot, period. Love both but I will never buy Redwings again. I’ve been through at least 6 pairs of Thorogoods and they are just fantastic.
Ответить"My brother is." 😂😂
ОтветитьNice to come across this segment. I’ve been looking into getting a new pair of boots and I didn’t realize there were so many out there. Usually I just go to Farm and Fleet and find whatever interesting and cheap at this time. I’m trying to spend a little bit more time to figure out what is out there that will benefit these old bones. I agree that the Thorogood seem to be the way I am going to go. Like the speed hooks the loop in the back a cushion around the top.
Ответитьhave these in black, great for the feet and lower back in a machine shop, most comfortable boots ive ever owned
Ответитьhey, when i oil my boots , i do it wearing leather gloves so instead of washing away oil from hands after fininishing, i oil the gloves as well .
ОтветитьI have been a carpenter for more than 35 years. I have worn almost every boot available except for Carolina’s. I have been exclusively wearing 6” Thorogood for at least the last 25 years. I remember my first pair. The softness and flexibility of the leather has never disappointed me. Every time I buy a new pair they feel the same as the broken in pair that I am replacing, on day one. I remember buying a new pair of boots back in the day, dreading the break in period. Getting blisters that sometimes lasted weeks. Not with Thorogood.
ОтветитьYep, as an operating engineer, I work around a lot of ironworkers and a Thorogood mock toe is absolutely an ironworker boot. Usually the carpenters just wear your typical Walmart boot.
ОтветитьThat was a great story involving Huberd's and Glide, OR. I've used Huberd's for nearly 50 years and have been through Glide quite a few times!
ОтветитьThorogoods are the only boots that I can wear . I get contact dermatitis with any kind of boot that isn’t just full grain leather on the inside any kind of man-made materials, my feet turned into Frankenstein’s foot . I’m about to order my second pair , they are comfortable from day one .
ОтветитьThat's crazy! Wacthing from across the country and I'm from Roseburg.
ОтветитьHaving owned both, I think the USA made boots from both companies are made by the same union shoe manufacturer. They’re very similar.
ОтветитьMy Grandpappy said a pair of boots will last a day longer if you never do anything to it.
ОтветитьI wish the Thurogood had slightly more aggressive sole
Ответить$250+
ОтветитьI'm a commercial carpenter and you walk on concrete all day and those wedge boots the sole always where fast regardless of brand I still have a pair but I bought timberland pro pit boss they last twice as long..
Ответить"Keep an eye out for your old friends" is a great line
ОтветитьI suspect the gemming failed
ОтветитьThank You Sir for this review. Hard to find ANY mention of Plantar Fasciitis on a boot review.
ОтветитьThe sole on the Carolinas are the exact same sole on the thorogoods. Just fyi , made by same manufacturer and material literally identical
ОтветитьAfter Years in the Army, jumping out of planes, construction work and law enforcement my feet were fried, planter facilitates and the surgery to help it (it didn't), bone spurs, even had the tendon snap completely in one foot, the Army made special insole for me (didn't help) I was in pain for years, even had to use a cane often in my 30's and 40's, then I found barefoot shoes. They were flat and had a wide toe box and that's about it. I thought what do I have to lose. Turn's out that was the answer. After a few year with barefoot shoes I bought a barefoot boot, it was the African Ranger barefoot boot by Jim Green and they are just about all I wear now. My feet are doing much better. If you have planter facilitates barefoot shoes/boots might be what you need. I was always a toe walker/runner so that may have something to do with why they worked so well for me. Anyway, just wanted to share a bit of my foot journey and let you know what worked for me and also say even though these Jim Green boots are made in South Africa they are fantastic, well made, all leather and the grip is fantastic. Love your videos, keep up the good work! -Chris
Ответитьyes after a certain age you learn it's not the boot, it's your foot. and a wide toe box is a frequent issue. nice job.
ОтветитьNever had diehards but had some redwings...they about crippled me! I had to get inside of hem with a razor blade and thin the seams that were wearing out my feet, that helped some but I had to keep them oiled for the leather to loosen up!
ОтветитьI've been building homes over 25 yrs and this is my experience. Carolinas are comfortable and decently made but the sole just doesn't hold up very long, thorogood is very comfortable right out of the box with minimal break in but redwing moc toe heritage are far superior, much thicker leather, better sole and if you can withstand the insane break in time it feels like a leather glove for your feet.
