Hi can I get a synopsis of this video?

This was 6 years ago. I haven’t seen much of a difference! People haven’t necessarily gotten smarter. The only thing that’s impressed me lately is DALL-E 2, but I’m not seeing anything like anti-gravity or my dreams coming true.

All of this will lead to a great suppression.

You realize that our brains are quantum computers within themselves so what exactly do you think it’s going to happen 15 to 20 years when we make robots to do our bidding for us to improve do you think they will take kindly to that don’t you think that they will learn don’t you think that they will adapt regardless of what they are they aren’t human just a different species that we create so what exactly do you think that will bring genocide I think

Everything about this video screams "professionalism" without any meaningful content behind it. The major takeaway beyond all the buzzwords is that you, Gerd, don't want to merge with technology because it seems scary. This is the same kind of baseless fear that holds back people from using CRISPR on unborn children to produce humans that would have objectively better lives with less disadvantages. Honestly though, it might be better to let machines overtake us than have machine-amplified humans going around when humans are so capricious and incapable of handling large scale problems effectively.

At some point, you have to make peace with the fact that machines will overtake us in every area that is meaningful to us because there's nothing magical in human beings. The real issue here is the AI alignment problem, which people are already working so that by the time we are obsoleted we won't have to worry about our creations getting rid of us like trash. I'm honestly more worried that AI, better suited for making more objective judgements on how to govern once it gets powerful enough, will be relegated to lesser roles while idiotic and arrogant humans will remain in charge of the important things.

I wish this utopian talk wasn't tainted by this "buy things" bullshit. Buying and selling is a shitty heuristic we use for our needs that easily gets exploited by anyone who wants to profit off of it. If the future is changing exponentially, why envision only a slightly better (arguable if even better considering all the blockchain nonsense and poorly executed VR/AR integration) future where we can buy "better stuff" instead of a future where things are just provided? Is it too bold to assume we're closer to post-scarcity than we think and we just have shitty distribution? Maybe that gets a bit too close to the dreaded "you'll own nothing and love what we decide for you," but there's a qualitative difference between "owning nothing" and "being provided for".

Came here because our professor required us to watch this and based from what I've understand, as human beings, we should be able to identify ourselves as one of the creators of this digital transformation and not be the one who's influenced by it. What are the things that we can do and can't do from the inventions that we kept on doing. Together, let's become the people who will control the technology and not be the one being controlled by technology.

I disagree with the whole idea of machines not being creative - but I'd give you ethics because what's the point if we are not in control
