I own that same model. It's actually a very good one, made by JVC. I wouldn't call it high end, but it's no low end slouch, either, with stereo Hi-Fi sound, Super VHS ET, and 4 double azimuth video heads.
And it's kind of cool that this VCR has VU meters, though it's also kind of pointless as you can't manually adjust your input level for recording, so the meters are just there for show.
This is a great device anyway. You can use it as regular hi-grade analogue S-VHS recorder, or modify it and use it like 2-channels 6 MHz analogue spectral recorder. This is unique and hardly reproducible in digital world device, since saving such spectrum in 16-bit digital is huge in a bitrate (just imagine PCM in 18 Mhz sampling rate).
ОтветитьIve still got my Panasonic NV HS1000 SVhs at my mum's and cost me nearly a grand in the 90's..your video has inspired me to get it out and see if still works some 30 years later..😁
ОтветитьStill have my VHS machines.
Most of them are Philips and one sony and one Sharp i picked up at a flea market and one that i found in a container.
Turbo drive is for super fast forward sear if you want to search
A side note: a VCR of mine refuses to work without the cover, because it has opto sensors that are affected by ambient lights (especially if you're looking inside it with a strong light source on it). So, if you have some issues without the cover, try to switch off the light of your room (or temporarily put the cover on) and try again. Easy test to do.
ОтветитьHad video plus in UK too.
ОтветитьDon't shine a bright light inside, it confuses the senser
ОтветитьI think that the JVC VCR Gold that you mentioned is the same one we still have here.
It's not in use, sadly, but it was one of the best VCRs I ever owned (besides the high-end Panasonic with TBC and other features).
If this is the same one, the remote control has a big round button, with an indent where you put your finger to shuttle the video back and forth at whatever speed you like.
It was so good.
Yes you wasted $10 on trash!! 🗑️😆
ОтветитьI'm with you on the VHS goodness nostalgia - my only problem is that there's nothing worth recording on modern Australian TV! 😆
ОтветитьI ❤ VHS IM ADDICTED TO VHS I HAVE 15 IM COLLECTING THEM❤
ОтветитьS-VCR?
ОтветитьI only use a vcr for its RF modulator.

ОтветитьMechanisms, towards the end of VHS dominance, seemed to be generic / commodity components.
ОтветитьThe 3.5mm connector on the back might be to connect an infrared transmitter/'blaster' to control a source device.
ОтветитьIt works very well, especially with this "Premium Grade from SONY" cassette, the picture and sound are perfect. You have made a good purchase then! One question: you used 99% Alcohol and not Isopropyl Alcohol, why? Thank you and good continuation.
ОтветитьI read somewhere the Philips Super VHS VCR's are re-badged JVC VCRS.
ОтветитьEverything proven not every tv has good picture quality everything proven the TVs don't have good picture quality it takes the quality out of the vhs tapes and the other tvs have good picture quality it puts all quality in your VHS tapes
ОтветитьThe one thing to watch out for with these JVC decks, is they used to suffer with failure of the opto couplers under the reels, when in high speed rewind mode, they are supposed to slow down a little while before the end of the tape, but if the opto couplers have failed they don’t slow down and the centre infrared detector cannot react quick enough to apply the brakes, this usually causes a couple of plastic geared sliders in the mechanism to break and you need to replace the opto couplers. It’s an easy fix, once you know how the alignment holes work but I doubt you can get the parts anymore. So if you are rewinding you may be better to press the stop button before it gets to the end, then just rewind the final bit a bit at a time
ОтветитьGreat 👍 Videos 👍 📹 keep up the great work 👍 !!--!!-!!!
ОтветитьNot a bad JVC/Philips. Had it been a slightly higher spec one with a TBC (Timebase Corrector) then it would have been worth a lot.
ОтветитьThats a jvc mechanically! I just serviced one
ОтветитьIt's slow because it's Philips. We used to have those back in the day and they were always sluggish, noisy, and slow compared to my friends' Sony and whatever other brands. And the day was glorious when our last Philips machine kicked the bucket and we went and bought Sony. And then that was destroyed by lightning about a year later. Then I just moved on to DVD.
ОтветитьNot a collector but I am looking for specific information about a used Sony EV-S500 Hi8 player I bought for a project and was wondering if you could tell me where I could find any manuals for fixing it. It looks like the cassette mechanism is not working properly (it lets me insert the tape only partially and doesn't bring the tape in and down completely to even let me see if it plays or not.) Any help would be appreciated.
ОтветитьThe trouble loading the tape could be a marginally corroded Mode switch. The mode switch on a unit like this is easy to polish and I would put some dielectric grease in as well to prevent future corrosion. If the Mode switch is corroded, eventually this can lead to tape binding (eating).
ОтветитьTracking engineer vocational subjective math science pre grad east slow clouds and sunset, note.
ОтветитьOnce had a VCR in for repair that wouldn't load any tapes at all. Upon openning it turned out little Johnny had used it for parking his toy cars and trucks! Incidentaly rubber drive belts can be revived by simply washing them in water. Interesting channel BTW.
ОтветитьInteresting video. I have a JVC HR-VP59U VCR that has almost the exact setup inside as the VCR you worked on. On mine, the roller guides will not fully engage to carry the tape to the heads. They try, fail, and then effect the tape. If I give a manual push, they'll move into position and play the tape. Any idea on why the roller guides can't engage on their own.
ОтветитьHello dear professor
My video collects tape
The bridge or forward that I am collecting the tape, please help me to repair .....
i have been looking for a good quality 4 head nicam vcr for years, i want to record high quality audio and radio signals.
every one i see are early clunkers(well made but too old), or mid 2000's junk(utter shite), i will find one eventually.
VHS recorder some via a capture device to a SD Card ! Still good I doesn´t watch much anymore; attach SCART may not be a problem with a Tswitch but for what ?
ОтветитьIT not capture device It Picking Macrovision On Tape copy Protection It treating as another vcr

ОтветитьGreat video VCR players cleaning tapes vhs movies proven there everywhere online now days specially am buying them myself offline from images from ebay my vhs movies proven there 10 dollars yet everything proven there not hard finding online
ОтветитьApparently these old VCR's are hard to find nowadays because they're huge in (I think it was) South America still. People will go to thrift stores just to buy them all and then sell them back in South America.
ОтветитьWhen you load the tape and it spits it back out immediately after loading that could be your mode switch is dirty if it has a mode switch. Some of the newer ones didn’t have a mode switch that you could clean. I used to have a business called discount electronics and I used to repair all consumer electronics but mainly VCRs. By the way it’s not running slow. The loading and unloading of the tape seems perfectly normal. But your loading belt might be slipping a little bit. I still run my own business by the way but now I repair medical equipment for doctors and Dental offices.
Ответитьman i want one of these so bad even though we had one and gave it away to another family member i can't see for legal reasons but the only reason why i would want that is to see a old tape of my dad back in 2005 and watch some other ones i wish i can get one again.
Ответить$10 for an SVHS VCR is CRAZY given how much they were back in the day ! Pity it's a Philips, but it's still a bargain.
I had a 1989 Mitsubishi E20 VCR, the one with the crazy huge 47 button LCD learning remote control. They were AMAZING.
I have two of this model of D-Vhs JVC HM-DH30000U. One has misfit roller guides, I think I want to sell to some American.
ОтветитьI have a few vcr’s i have converted all my movies over to digital for (personal home use) i grew up with the old vcr systems and bata max some times it hard to let go of the old tech
