get tge french elrik
ОтветитьI'd recommend the KANE books by the late Karl Edward Wagner. It's dark fantasy with a lead character that's a true anti hero. Great stories with an interesting character. Of course there's also the stories by Robert E Howard that are very good like Conan, Kull, Solomon Kane & Bran Mak Morn. Also the Guin Saga is a series of books from Japan . It's a fantasy story that even spawned it's own anime series. Only some of the books have been translated into English as it was a long running series of novels in Japan.
ОтветитьThe author of Elric says it doesn't matter how you say the name nor any of the others, say them how they work best for you.
Ответитьi feel like you need a script you take years to get to the point and you say "umm" or "uh" so much i couldnt continue to watch.
ОтветитьThanks a lot my dude
ОтветитьHave you come across Cerebus?
It started really well but got harder and harder to read. I gave up towards the end thus fulfilling Dave Sims prophecy that Cerebus would die alone and unloved.
Red Rising by Pierce Brown. It's more of a Sci-Fi series but has many fantasy elements in it and The First Law by Joe Abercrombie. Also what I consider to be the best modern fantasy story which is The Stormlighrt Archive by Brandon Sandorson.
ОтветитьYou have good taste
ОтветитьNovel suggestions: Dragonlance is a great fantasy novel series, although I do not know if it holds up to a first time read for adults. I read it as a kid, so I still love it partially out of nostalgia, but you have to be okay with it being basically a Young Adventure series. If you are okay with that kind of thing, I'd also suggest the Madeleine L'Engle Wrinkle in Time series and the Ursula K. Le Guin Earthsea series. And of course, the Darksword series by the same authors as Dragonlance. Not to mention the Moorcock novels. (I'm actually reading the Elric novel for my first time right now.) If you want to read some pulp-action fantasy, the Philip José Farmer World of Tiers series is light fun with a sci-fi tinge.
Also, I wanted to say, those two Valiant series you introduced illustrate, to me at least, what I love most about Valiant: they know how to do a shared universe well. They focus on strong self-contained stories, with crossover continuity present as an "icing on the cake" factor. I love it.
Good picks, I subbed! I'd love your thoughts on our fantasy webseries Spellfury, we just released a new episode
ОтветитьGreat list! I Hate Fairyland is so good!
ОтветитьI’d say bone has to be up here as well that was one of my favorite comics ever
ОтветитьWhy isn't Artesia on this list?

Ответитьyou should get elric the ruby throne by julien blondel . they have both a hardcover and delux hardcover. i dont have the deluxe so i dont know whats so deluxe about it. that eternal warrior sounds great. too bad prices are so high. i am really enjoying the kurt busiek and tim truman conan epic collection. and i hope that isola gets the deluxe hardcover treatment . i am struggling whether to upgrade from my montress trades to the hardcover.
ОтветитьNice video..however can you turn up your mic its hard to hear you
ОтветитьI'm not long into comic books (yet), but I'd recommend a short but fun story, Koschei the Deathless.
ОтветитьThis was great, I'm a fantasy geek like many of you but in the comic medium I always struggle to find good high fantasy type stories. These were cool suggestions but if you have more I'd love to tune in and hear them!! Keep up the great content.
ОтветитьThe Mist born Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson— mind blowing fantasy series with unbelievable writing!
ОтветитьFor Elric, how many different editions/adaptations vol there are beside this collection? And are they the same storyline? I got this collection after you recommended them but Vol 2 was so different than yours. Do you recommend them? Thanks so much!
ОтветитьThe "Black Blade" song by Blue Oyster Cult is what got me into Elric.💥
ОтветитьThanks for recommending Elric, one of my favorite characters ever. I`m wondering what Hollywood is waiting for. Movies adapted from the novels would rival LOTR. Roy Thomas & P. Craig Russell`s Dreaming City is my favorite adaption.
ОтветитьAgain so many interesting books I ve never heard of. thank you for the reccomendations!
ОтветитьAmazing fantasy novels: Way of kings And Mistborn by Brandon sanderson. Blood Song by Anthony Ryan. Lightbringer series by Brent Weeks. As for comics, Dungeons and Dragons by John rogers is really great. Skullkickers by Jim Zub is a great read and of course Conan by Busiek or Roy Thomas is a great choice. Joe the Barbarian is one of my favorites but not sure if that classifies as fantasy.
ОтветитьName of the wind. Check it out :)
ОтветитьLove your recommendations. But some of the shown book are not available ?anymore?. Kinda sad.
ОтветитьGreat channel and really enjoy your videos, especially the not so well known graphic novels. Very informative and by the end of the video buying more books lol
Would you be able to give me a starting point or recommendations in the Valiant Universe?
Thank you for great recommendations! I think that The ElfQuest saga may fit into this list as well.
ОтветитьI luv that u chose "I Hate Fairyland" as one of ur 5! I recently read the 1st issue online, & immediately ordered the 1st deluxe edition, lol! I haven't gotten to get into it yet, but I could tell how hilarious it was from that 1st issue! And I knew Scottie Young would be perfect for this because I have the 1st 3 HCs of the "Oz" books he drew that were adapted by Eric Shanower, & his art just fits that type of fantasy so well(even though "I Hate Fairyland" has the ultra violent sword & sorcery elements the "Oz" books didn't, lol). Awesome choice! I look forward to reading the rest of it(still working my way thru other titles... & as u guys know, due to my "brain issues" & desire to really drool over the artwork, I'm a slow reader, & am unable to read prose novels anymore, sadly.😔 So I won't be able to recommend any prose sword & sorcery stuff, as "The Lord of the Rings" is one of, if not my favorite story of all-time, but u've read that already; & I didn't really read any other prose sword & sorcery before losing my ability to read prose-- so, unfortunately I have nothing to recommend; but I'll give a couple of comics recommendations!😉). My top recommendations would be "The Mice Templar" from Image, "Helheim" & "Brides of Helheim" from Oni Press, "Alpha King" from Image & 3 Floyds(it is crazy, hilarious & has some funtastical art by Simon Bisley!), the various "John Carter/Warlord of Mars" series from Dynamite(although I guess those would be "sword & planet", but pretty close, lol), "Elias the Cursed" from Humanoids(brutal, funny, & just really entertaining in that uniquely European graphic album way!), & of course.... "Conan". I have virtually all of the Dark Horse trades, & I've loved every one that I've read! I've not read the old or new Marvel stuff, but plan to give it a shot! All of these titles I mentioned have stellar artwork(aside from the "John Carter/Warlord of Mars" stuff, which is hit or miss, imho; and a few of the "Conan" stories/crossovers have mediocre art, but most of the Dark Horse stuff is fantastic!)! Another fun video, Mike! Thanx a fluffin' lot!!!😄👍🏻👍🏻
Ответитьif you like I HAte Fairy Land, check out MiddleWest from the same creators. Also check out Sera and the Royal Stars from Vault Comics, its like a far east influenced Fantasy.
ОтветитьYour video content are of high quality. I got a lot of good comics suggestions from them.
ОтветитьGreat video! Another two series that I never heard about added to the wishlist. I like your passion for these books, Mike, it shows and it’s relatable!
ОтветитьTry wizards first rule
ОтветитьName of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch are both great fantasy novels.
ОтветитьBerserk and The Witcher
ОтветитьI hate fairyland is just awesome! As for fantasy recommendations... I have to assume that you've read the entire Wheel of Time series?!
