"Btw, we agree that black people are systemically oppressed, we just wanted to push that message out there. Please love us." And the people who disagree still disagree.

My perspective on kneeling is this: Standing for the anthem is a good thing, kneeling for the anthem is bad timing, and very ineffective. While the crowd is standing for something more fundamental, "We are all kin regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, politics, etcetera", the kneeling players are saying, "You know what's more important to say? All lives don't matter until black lives matter." As if conservatives don't recognize that a lot of black people have it hard, whether it's because they're black or not.

As if conservatives haven't been telling largely black communities (and other groups with similar issues) for years that they should fix the lack of nuclear families issue, the lack of consequences for crimes issue, the encouragement of joblessness issue, among others. (They've also recommended trying to vote for Republicans or Independants, just to confirm firsthand if some small good could come of it, for a damn change of pace.)

You need both significant positive reinforcement and significant negative reinforcement to straighten out unhealthy communities. Anarchy is bad, so is tyranny, so you have to strike a balance. Unfortunately, a lot of big cities are suffering from anarchy right now.
