How to refurbish/stylize an Xbox 360 controller's thumbsticks

Down voted it because you didn't take apart the D-pad to clean it.

I might look into this. I had so many controllers with thumb stacks that had zero rubber on them at all.

One thing that annoys me about these aftermarket sticks is the little bumps are in the wrong places (they're in the corners, not the cardinal directions). Absolutely no one has the right ones.

Personally I'd rather just have the sticks from the newer 360 controllers (the ones with the transforming d-pads). They have no bumps at all and just use concave ridges in the center.

The dpad is fucking diarrhea. If you like platforming games that dpad will make u wanna end ur life.

I recently got a used 360 controller that had finger gunk in the seams. The d pad was all messed up too. Disassembled, soaked, and "erased" all the gunk on the membranes. Good as new! How have these thumbsticks held up? I've got two controllers that could use replacement and am afraid to buy some cheap stuff

I need help! Did somebody has this problem? A few hours ago, I replaced both analog sticks for my Xbox 360 controller and happened something curious, it happens on Destiny, Battlefield 3 and Alan Wake (it doesn't happen in any other games, I tried a few more like DS1&2, tomb raider/rise of the tomb raider, metro last light, RE1&4 and many others) the thing is, my character doest want to lower his arms, it keeps aiming down the sights (left trigger aim, right trigger shoot) and whenever I swap the triggers (left trigger shoot, right trigger aim) it works perfectly without any issues at all.. also, Alan Wake doesn't want to run, keeping pressed the LB causes him to sprint a few meters and stop running.
Can somebody help me?

I have so many controllers that sticky or the sticks got chewed of by the bird this would be the perfect project

i use those thumbstick grips that are meant for like a xbox one controller

just fyi: I tried fitting XBONE thumbsticks on my wired 360 controller and they didn't fit (technically yes, but the base wasn't wide enough so it scraped against the thumbstick construction). The XBONE thumbsticks do fit nicely on a PS4 controller however. I prefer the concave shape

Could you do a video on DIY'ing a wireless adapter for the controllers? I heard it's possible to reuse a 360 IR board for that.

For anyone experiencing stick drift, when you pop off the thumbsticks spray some contact cleaner directly into the thumbstick opening and click it all around. After it dries add a bit of gear grease inside the opening. If it's a controller you care about and plan to keep it's worth it. I did it for all my og Xbox and 360 controllers and it's been a huge difference

The 3rd party thumbsticks sometimes aren't inline with the little bumps around the stick so they end up a little bit off kilter, also if you want to use one of the transforming chrome d-pads the housing for the controller needs to be modified if your controller doesn't already have one

I fixed mine by putting on the rubber cap from a broken Dual Shock 2.

back then i would use my thumb on the bottom of the left analog stick and my pointer finger on the top of the left analog stick and pinch it and I used my middle finger for the triggers
I still do the same thing for the wii u game pad for both sticks when play a first person shooter

I prefer the thumb sticks on the original Xbox controller as they are padded and don't hurt my thumbs like most controllers do but the D pad is useless as are the LB/RB buttons.

They must have updated the Xbox 360 controller so when the grip does come off it doesn't look worn and you can still use it well cuz I've been using it for YEARS, before I even knew there was wireless Xbox 360 controllers which I just found out about in this video
