This is great advice 😮
Being a independent artist who,
Writes,
Produces,
Engineers,
Video planning and Editing myself this has answered some of my own questions!

If I do all this promotional work, then I physically have no time to make good music.

i messed up so bad. i got popular but by being bad at singing and i did not capitalize on that. i was only 13 and I really did not know what I was even doing. I lost an audience and Ive struggled bouncing back ever since. this channel has been helping little by little.

spotify is a complete monopoly being held hostage by the 3 monopoly/cartel labels of sony, warner, and universal - this is why spotify is no longer paying smaller artists, this is also why spotify's business model hasn't been profitable, because they cannot afford to pay the artists AND the big record labels, so obviously they chose the labels, this is a genuine betrayal and cannot be accepted - the music industry is completely broken until these monopolies are broken up, this is complete exploitation by the artists, no artist in their right mind should be supporting spotify or these three monopolies

I just started releasing music in English & Spanish. Should I make 2 separate accounts? I'm worried the algorithm won't know what to do with my content/audience.

Btw, I have been so grateful for your videos. Always great quality.

Hey Jesse! Thanks for all of your content. I watch one of your videos at least once a day ✌🏽

2 things:

Firstly, could you please make some videos on other platforms like Apple Music and Tidal?

I totally understand Spotify being the main source of traffic and I will continue to work with. With that being said, I’m diving into very niche stuff like hi-res audio at high sample rates/bit depths along with Dolby Atmos. Spotify maxes out at 16 bit 44.1 kHz and applies its own compression for better or for worse in some cases.

With platforms like Apple Music and Tidal, I’m confident as an artist that my music is coming out the way I intended it to be making it feeling an experience rather than it just being playable.

There is an extreme lack of resources on this subject matter. Every video likes to tell you that “because all the traffic is on Spotify, you have an entirely untapped market” but the video ends there.

If you could share even the tiniest bit of info you have for Apple Music and Tidal, it would be awesome.

2nd: On top of the music that I release, I’ve been hosting my own weekly radio show where I’m playing a DJ set and talking over. For the life of me I’m trying to get my show onto Spotify but I just keep on hitting a dead end.

There was an application for DJ mixes which I filled out but I have not heard back. How do all of these major DJs get their shows on Spotify/streaming services?

Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

Absolutely, if your goal is to have 1mil fans and "blow up" and be flash in the pan, this is the video. Jesse Cannon is legit. That roster of his is legit, legit. You can't fault or fuck with that work rate, end of story. However, I think that establishing an actual long-term fanbase and cement oneself in the canon (no pun) of musical history is something that we're going to see have a comeback, through tactile, face-to-face methods, abandoning social media altogether. That's just my opinion, and it's nothing short of polarising - I'm aware. But I really think this is what's going to happen in 10 to 15 years. Social media will lose its chokehold on people, and attention spans will reach their shortest measure in human history, and then begin to stretch back.

This is really helpful! If you talk a little bit slower and change your tone a bit depending on the emotion you’re conveying and emphasize key points more you will probably have better retention with your viewers.

Big fan of your work except the shxting on paid ads. When you say the artist mission is to try to get as many ears to your song as possible that “…. have the potential to like you because they like your genre of music” - this is literally what targeted ads do. Also this category is essentially a bunch of strangers

l have 2 questions. So lets say l am a new artist, meaning this will be my first song released in years, l'm basically starting from 0 lol

1. Should l have content already before hand? Like performance videos, making videos for the earworm part of my song on tiktok before the song actually comes out and l start the week 1,2,3 process etc?

2. Does week 1 etc start when my song is actually live on spotify/ all platforms?
