DJI RC vs RC-Pro Controller - What's the Difference? + Range Test

I've stumbled upon this video after initially thinking of buying a Mini 4 Pro and continuing down the rabbit hole to now considering a Mavic 3. I was really curious about the controller differences and this video was so helpful! I'm really confused though, what exactly does one need the internal storage on the CONTROLLER for? Is it strictly for recording the screen output directly? (which isn't something I ever really do or think I'd need)

You can buy a good quality laptop for editing for the money spent on a rx controller. In happy with my dji rc.

I think it's meant for where there is more interferes like in urban settings. Try test range there.

The "range test" makes no sense. The drone will reach approximately the same distance (as demonstrated) regardless of which controller is used if it's only going as far as it's battery allows it. Some pygmy logic being demonstrated here.

It is not clear why anyone would expect the remote controller to allow the drone to fly farther when the limiting factor is the battery on the drone. A better test would be in a radio interference situation whether the additional transmitter and receiver capability allows to operate when there's interference. The RC range can be very limited in urban environments where there's interference.

I'm dealing with DJI currently because I got the mavic 3 pro and the new RC is so laggy with it that it is dangerous to use. On the website for the RC Pro, it states a new processor. I'm assuming you actually get a safe and functional controller buying the RC Pro versus this laggy RC. I'm surprised you didn't touch on this at all in your video, but maybe it's only a problem with the Mavic 3 Pro, not the other Mavic 3's

So in both instances the drone went the same distance. Only an ounce of common since says your results are due to the battery limitations in the drone, not the signal strength of the controllers. Lololol

The range test was not a range test, but I understand no wanting to loose your drone to the wild.
Perhaps flying in a area where signal strength can be affected by neighboring signals like a dense city or down town? I know for me my range noticeably drops when flying downtown

It's a shame DJI does not put an HDMI port on the rc controller. I use my Skyzone X4 goggles all the time with my P4 pro plus.

What is the internal storage for? Does it prevent you from needing to put a card in the drone?

if you dont have to return back then you can fly much further away

An Ipad mini is more useful and either of these controllers.

My opinion is that no professional would take recorded footage from the Remote anyways. The quality is poor and useless. The only thing that matters is the footage coming straight from the drone.

Range test wouldn't see much difference without interference or signal blockage, but the RC Pro performs way better in situations where something may block the signal. It's not just about the distance, but also the reliability of the signal

What about in a city, with lots of different signals? Maybe, RC will lost the connection 5km away because of noise but the pro might send it further.

You could test the controllers while flying drones at lower altitudes to test range differences. From my point of view, switching from Mavic Pro (7km advertised range) to mini3 (10km range) should've been an upgrade, but it's a noticable downgrade, i suspect, due to lack of external antennas. The lower you go the bigger the difference.

Pretty sad you just can't buy proprietary like RadioMaster where you get a lot better controllers in quality and range. Overly priced controllers. I'd rather just use either my iPhone as a screen or use an iPad where you can get much better screen display and much longer lasting! $1,200 dollar ripoff!
