A lot of people are upset that the cross was destroyed (understandably so!) please know that the grandma wanted it melted down. She also saw this video and loved it. That doesn’t mean you have to agree with their choice, but I just wanted to share the backstory! Ultimately I let my clients decide what is best for their jewelry. Thank you so much for watching.
ОтветитьI'm Muslim not christian but this is very disrespectful why turn something of faith into something ordinary
ОтветитьBeing an Atheist I loved watching that cross being turned into a gorgeous ring ❤
ОтветитьI’d love to be a goldsmith but almost being 30, things like apprenticeships seem rather far fetched
ОтветитьNice investment from wax to gold ring 😂
Ответитьthe heirloom not gonna lie looks way more intricate and pretty than the ring i think maybe making it in to a necklace would have been better. i feel like the person who made it was a master at his work
ОтветитьThe ring is beautiful, but it still broke my heart to see a beautiful piece of jewelry melted.
ОтветитьWell, it went from the representation if an ugly torture device: a cross, to something at the very least useful.
ОтветитьWell now, that was real smart.......we HAVE lost our way !
ОтветитьBeautiful design. 💕
ОтветитьPlease learn to make claw prongs, yours are so bulky and hide so much diamond! Dulls the sparkle
ОтветитьHoly crap, the cross was beautifull.....
ОтветитьThat ring is so beautiful. Great work!
ОтветитьNot gonna lie, the cross was a lot more beautiful
ОтветитьBest part of vid, destroying that cross.
Ответитьummm how much did you get payed to do that????? because you did an amazing job
Ответитьpersonally hurts my soul seeing a beautiful piece redone. but that is just me and my own thoughts
ОтветитьThat's terrible!
ОтветитьBeautiful job! I’m a baby silversmith, so I have a loooong way to go before I work with gold. But this was very inspiring!!
Ответитьwhat a "METAL"morphisis!!! love the cross and the engagement ring and the engaging content! I'm a jewelry student thanks for sharing your process!
ОтветитьNo earthy way i would've destroyed that cross, i cant believe how they could make such an incredibly stupid decision
ОтветитьMy now deceased friend Joe gave me, as a wedding gift, a pair of earrings and a pendant that belonged to his governess, a wonderful lady named Anni. She and her husband left Germany in the 1930's as the Third Reich came to power, they were so sorry to see what was going on in their country. But just before they left Anni's husband had bought her these earrings and pendant. Not only did I have Joe's blessing to reset the (European cut) stones in a band ring, I was honored to share the tale of this great lady who loved little Joe and raised him with such affection. So many diamond pieces have a backstory!!!
Ответитьwhy would you use a fake stone for a engagement ring
Ответитьwhat about the makers mark and carat of the gold?
ОтветитьGreat process, this could have been my grandma's ring when it was made into a 3 diffirent rings. It has a three large diamonds and this ring has been passed down for generations as well. She decided to have it broken down, all rings are set on 18k yellow gold. And was given to all men by my grandma. The largest one which is the center stone was given to my dad and he used it to propose to my mom.
ОтветитьBeautiful
ОтветитьDo you use a fdm printer or a resin 3d printer for your wax rings?
Ответитьyou answered a lot of questions in this video. It's amazing how many time-saving tools there are now.
ОтветитьIt's a nice ring but I'd have been livid if I found out my fiancé had done such a thing to make my ring. I had to skip to the end to see the final product because I couldn't take it! 😂
ОтветитьThese Delicate rings are very thick and durable. So many retail stores have delicate rings and are paper thin. Its best to go to an actual goldsmith/jewelry maker in my opinion absolutely stunning
ОтветитьBeautiful done
ОтветитьAww that was a nice cross.
It's a shame she wanted it melted
But nice work anyway
Dang, that cross was beautiful. Regardless of religious context, I would have voted no on this....
ОтветитьWhere did the excess gold go??
ОтветитьThe filing parts of these videos always bothers me
ОтветитьBro I want that ring as my engagement ring
ОтветитьIt's really sweet that grandma wanted her cross to be a part of the ring. It's a shame though, that was a beautiful cross.
ОтветитьBeautiful work
Ответитьimagine she said no
Ответитьmay I ask something? Why is the gold cast black? I am new to the hobby of goldsmithing. I am using the vaccuum casting techinque. I get those black (oxide?) casts just like you in this video. I saw a lot of videos where the gold comes out without this black layer. I am melting the gold in a graphite crudible. I thought it was a layer of graphite. Then I thought it was temperature and went down to 940 degrees (celsius) for the pour. But it is always black. With fresh alloys, as well as with „old“ gold. I would be really kind if someone helped me out, since i cannot find an answer for weeks now.
ОтветитьSomehow using the casting method seems like cheating. A bit like buying the casts from China rather than making the ring by the original way. Also for stones of value always use platinum settings, even with a yellow band, It's harder and the white doesn't throw yellow into the diamonds.
Ответитьas always, you did a great job. i also liked the cross before it was melted down. the concept is very special.
ОтветитьSO beautiful! And a stunning amount of work!
ОтветитьI took jewelry making in high school 1977. It’s amazing to see how advanced technology has become. I love how you reimagine something new. Amazing!
ОтветитьThis very amazing to watch and a great way to pass on history through jewellery
ОтветитьThis was such a beautiful piece. It's truly a shame it was melted down into something not only so basic but also something that would have easily been made with scrap recycled gold.
ОтветитьAwesome ♥️
ОтветитьStunning
ОтветитьDo you give them the button? That was a fairly large one and it surely held some of the cross gold.
