🔎 About the composer:

Johann Schneider (1702–1788) was a German organist, from 1720 pupil of J.S. Bach for keyboard instruments.
In 1729 he became organist of the Nicolaikirche in Leipzig where he remained for the entire career earning the reputation of being a great organist. He was also a violinist and, of course, a good composer.
Unfortunately, only a small number of his organ compositions survive today; anyway from them we can argue he had a very good musical taste ("second only to Mr. Bach" said his contemporary). His style leans closely to the style of his Master showing also the first traces of galant style. At the same time he had a great knowledge of counterpoint; this is clear reading his Fugues and Choral Preludes.

For this Prelude in G major the Cantorum Trio Plus plays nicely using a Baroque Pipe Set with Neidhardt II temperament and a pitch of 462 Hz.
Plenum stop combination is prepared in all manuals; in Pedalboard speaks also a Posaune 16' to evidence bass lines.
This beautiful short Prelude for organ, based on a continuous flow of semiquavers, presents a series of pleasant harmonic progressions that give the composition a light and joyful character.
