Hi Karen, Thanks for checking out this NYJA Vocal Jazz Workshop video. What you are seeing are clips of a much more involved class. In the particular case of the vocalist you mentioned, the compliments came at a different interval in the masterclass. There's no question that a mix of positive reinforcement and constructive criticism can yield positive results.
