My tacoma will get 12 mpg on a good day.
ОтветитьWhat a weird car…on the one hand, it looks like a CRX and on the other, it’s sole purpose is to avoid gas stations like a COVID hotspot🤷♂️
ОтветитьThis is how i feel about my civic, i beat the shit out of it and still get 30 mpg
ОтветитьWork "we'll pay you 160k but you'll now have other drive out an hour ever day to a new site"
Me "TIME FOR AN INSIGHT" >:3
“Stupid reliable… never do oil changes, nothing has ever failed on this other than because I didn’t do oil changes I ran out of oil once and snapped a cam shaft”
Ответитьi NEED PARTS. STRUTS, MAYBE ENGINE
ОтветитьFun fact: the Dodge Daytona had a drag coefficient of just .28 back in 1969. Crazy what automotive engineers can do with a goal in mind
Ответитьawesomeeeeness
ОтветитьK24 swap? Like a Nissan motor in the Honda?
ОтветитьGreat video! I got my first insight 3 years ago and currently own two. One 2000 silver daily driver 265k, put 20k miles last year with all in cost (gas maintenance registration and insurance) of 12 cents per mile. My other one is a project, either going full electric or l15b7 swap with cvt .
ОтветитьIts honestly a beautiful car if you take away the skirt/spat. I really want one
ОтветитьCalling this a "perfect car" is a little misleading. I owned a first gen 5 speed for 4 years/200K miles, and I have never driven a worse winter car (I live in Northern Indiana). The undertrays pack with snow and eventually start to drag then rip off completely. Also the guy with the red car is a goon - he's over here waxing poetic about the car but is also proud of not changing the oil in his car. It only uses ~2.5 quarts with a filter smh. I went to undergrad at Purdue with a couple of the guys from Professional Awesome Racing and have seen the silver Insight at Gingerman a few times. Pretty cool car. Always wanted to K swap mine, but totaled it into a the back of a RAV4 at 20 mph instead.
ОтветитьI’ll always love the Honda crx & Insight. Just can’t reason to pay the mark up on one with the neglected they are in… so I purchased a Hyundai Ioniq although it’ll never have any performance parts it reminds me of the Insight. Mishimoto created a concept for the ioniq with rear wheel covers and damn looks good.
ОтветитьAny info on the modified control unit ?
Ответитьwell this first gen one has the looks to back it up
ОтветитьInsight gang
Ответитьthese cars are gonna be in super high demand now that gas is 5 bucks a gallon lol
ОтветитьAn ev swapped 20y/o Honda is lowkey my dream car. I think the Insight would be a sick looking electric swap. Before seeing videos on it I never realized how good it’s stock mpg is.
ОтветитьWhere did you get these Exsight floor mats!?!?! I have an insight and haven't found new mats. Thanks for this video... glad to see Insights getting all this love. Mine averaged 68 mpg on a highway drive down the east coast : ) much less driving around the city day to day (in the 40s). Also I agree: I have had mine (it's a 2000) since 2006 and replacing the big battery has been the only major repair ( and it's expected). Had one other minor issue with a window that quit working right. Now I'm trying to deal with some water leaks due to aging seals but overall it's amazing.
Ответитьas someone who owns a gen1 honda insight, i loved this
that car is truly amazing.
love this car.. have 2..soon a third
ОтветитьI have one where the electric end doesn't work.
ОтветитьReally amazing engineering !! And such great car for what it is ( & even for what it isn't :)
ОтветитьInsight are just the odd car that seems to hook some people, including myself. I got mine thinking just to save gas and not do anything with it. Fast forward and I started doing all kind of things to it like figuring out what gears you can swap and such. Just a blast to drive around town, definitely the mantra of driving a slow car fast kind of fun.
ОтветитьHow insane gas prices are these days I'd be thrilled to have this car for 60% of my driving.
ОтветитьMy 2005 is named Luna, A.K.A “tiny car” She hauls all my chainsaws 100 miles round trip everyday. I am currently getting 62.1 MPGs and I do 65mph + each trip. Best car I’ve ever owned. Some day I’ll K Swap her.
ОтветитьThe insight is the greatest honda to build on. The low weight and aerodynamics are unmatched
ОтветитьHell yes! Love some good First generation insight porn.
ОтветитьPrime vehicle for a kick ass all electric setup. Fast and long range are all within the reach of this vehicle conversion. Or a turbo diesel but the way the economy is going I'd say electric is the way to go. Im bringing home one next week. and looking for another.
ОтветитьY’all are aware that in about 3 years the first VW Lupo 3L are going to be able to be imported to the us they get 78 mpg on diesel
ОтветитьI always thought these were the weirdest-looking cars, but I’m endlessly fascinated by them, too.
ОтветитьHad mine 6 years paid £3000 for it. They are now being advertised on ebay for £8000, IMA finally given up. No road tax and insurance £150 a year! Everyone asks me about it, even got a crowd looking at it in the car park at a country fair last summer. Toying with a new battery as my commute is 60 miles a day. The ULEZ in London is being expanded and my office is in the expansion soon zone so no brainer. Even without the IMA battery I got 67.4 mpg today.
Great vid keep up the good work!
Wow 11 second with a K-swap and still getting 50-60mpg's. Now that's amazing!
ОтветитьThis is my favorite car hands down. Love seeing other people love it as much as I do.
ОтветитьLo piden traduzcan en español
ОтветитьJust bought mine the other day!
ОтветитьThere are literally no parts available for this car. I had a fender bender in mine and have been riding around d with a messed up hood ever since. I wanted some new headlight assemblies but I'm not about to pay 400 bucks a piece for them. Anyway once this car is damaged good luck.
ОтветитьWHAT R THESE WHEELS ON THE LIME GREEN INSIGHT! They remind me of the Lancia 037 Stradale wheels, i need them.
Ответитьfull video please?? I want to see them fvck3d 😅
ОтветитьYou MUST have a (2000-2006 Honda Insight Hybrid EL-1 IMA Battery Grid Charger) Ebay item. Cost about $250. I been using them about every 2 months in the past 8 yrs . Restores IMA battery perfectly well. The author of this clip should have been telling you about this.
ОтветитьOnce the next BIG oil crisis hits, I firmly believe that the value of most Insights will soar past $8,000 for unmodified examples with working IMA, as they weren't nearly as common as their Prius counterparts, in addition to being lightyears ahead in build quality when compared to its predecessor, the CRX. Currently on the hunt for either a Monte Carlo Blue or Grand Prix White 5MT example myself.
Ответитьlove it
ОтветитьWhat efficiency mods can be done on the newer shaped insights?
ОтветитьI f*****g love both my g1 insights...
ОтветитьI've driven a Honda Insight for 15 years and a 95 civic for about 5 years.. The 95 civic is a better car.
ОтветитьHayabusa engine😵💫
ОтветитьYesterday I saw an insight for sale on autotrader for $18k!!! I laughed my ass off. It made my day.
ОтветитьBro is making 225whp and stil gettting 4.4L/100km thats insane
ОтветитьThanks, I own the 2012. has a question hopefully someone can answer. What part of the drive system is ran off the main battery of the hybrid? What does it actually do to send you down the road? Thanks again.
