What is Arch Linux?

Best linux distro ever.. you can choose the gui (like all other distros) hahaha , all things listed on this video as "why arch is the best" are a totally normal thing between distros. The only thing that Arch is best is to complicate things so the fan boys feels like hackers just installing a video driver.

Yeah whole heartedly agree with the package part. If you know the name of the package itself (which is easy to know once you get used to it), it's as simple as typing a single line of text on the terminal. Sooooo much faster than in Windows

When people ask me about Arch, here's the analogy I use;
If someone tells you to write a book,
With Windows, you are given a plain page book and a pen.
With Ubuntu, you're given a stash of paper from which you have to make into a book, and you have to load ink into your pen.
With Arch, you're given seeds from which you have to grow a tree, cut it down, make your own paper, and make your own pen and ink.

All Linux's have goods & bads. But what ticks me off about Linux is when you install something either from git clone or apt-get, there's no rhyme or reason where the apps install and whether or not a shortcut gets put in the panel. The other thing is creating a desktop shortcut, why the Fuck do we gotta script in like gedit or leafpad to create a simple icon shortcut ? And why are standard linux commands being changed up in Arch ? Kali is the goto repo because it doesn't F around like these little insignificant repo's.

Oki, good for you :) So when thing are harder then they are better? What Linux community needs to build an reliable, fast linux release with user friendly GUI. Then it will get support from PC manufactures and can compete with windows and OS X. Because Linux is great, all need to be presented to world a better way. I respect geek people have different view and ambitions- but seriously same people makes this great system to suffer - because it has thousands of different releases most of them buggy? I recently installed Ubuntu LTS latests version, wifi won't work after a suspend :D it is deal breaker.. think about that why Linux can't compete yet with windows or os X? because it is not good or we have to change our approach to Linux?!

what desktop environment are you using in this video?

I don't want to chose everything. I want the Operating System to get and stay the fuck out of the way and just work, right out of the box, so I can get work fucking done. That means networking, filesharing, printing, etc. I want to be able to push the sleep button, and have the computer go to sleep, and come back instantly on when I push it again... without crashing. I don't want to have to deal with obscure commands with long ass command line switches and dick around trying to resolve dependencies. I want it not to be slow as molasseses loaded down with a fucking overloaded GUI interface. 25 years in development, LINUX STILL DOES NOT GET IT..... :-/
