‘Big iron on his hip’ too!!
ОтветитьAlways loved this song. Marty paints such detailed pictures in your head with his words. You can see it all. Gordon Lightfoot is the only other artist I know that could write ballads like this song.
Side note: I never realized Marty looked so much like George W., lol.
I have seen Marty Robbins in several recorded live videos. He never missed a note, never strained to hit it. What an incredible voice and an amazing singer. I’m a fan for life.
ОтветитьThe art of the ballad!
ОтветитьThis is a three part series, this is part 1 part 2 is faleena which continues where this song finishes part 3 El paso town
ОтветитьI agree a great song. However; the other guy drew first so, it was obviously self defense! Does the posse get him for stealing the horse? Dang! Please someone explain...
Ответить...Seeking Felina❤✅😊
ОтветитьI hope you young cats fully understand and can deeply appreciate just how incredibly world class this and other "Old School Country" was and is. Truly amazing music and talent.....
ОтветитьMy Dad's favourite song, I chose it for his funeral. My sisters and I are word perfect it was played so often
ОтветитьHombre tells story...native is unimpressed....no knock....just perspective....200 years ago, this is very common....
ОтветитьMy 17 yr old,orange-headed, Dutch,German,Irish,Czech,Hungarian kid cranks this song up on his 12"Rockford Fosgates in Carson City,NV , though he hails from Northern wisconson,U.S......this shows the spread of the influence of beauty...just an awesome song!!
ОтветитьI am Italian, I live in Spain, but I love country and western music and I am so proud about it. Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash are my Idols, rest in peace and may they be singing with the Angels next to our Lord ❤️
ОтветитьIn the late 50 s, I went with some schoolmates to Ohakea as part of our A.T.C. course. We went to the "dry" canteen and played this great song on the "Juke Box", so many times that within an hour the place was nearly empty. I still love listening to the full version when I find it.
ОтветитьWow, excellent.
ОтветитьEveryone misses the fact that the guy was a horse thief. Proof of the duel is easy to find. But being a horse thief, that's a whole different thing. Horses were the life to many in the "old west." Taking someone's horse is almost like murdering someone. It was always punished with death.
Ответить🎶👍🫶
Ответить🇼🇸🇦🇸 Kama kuai a lea ole KSBS 92.1 FM i Samunda.
ОтветитьI've always loved this beautiful song. It definitely reveals some of Texas finest history.
ОтветитьI always say Marty Robbins an Roy Orbison would make a great duet...
ОтветитьMarty Robbins did it best! El Paso!
😅
I met Marty when I was just a kid. He shook my hand and called me, ''Partner''.
Ответитьmy dad was surprised at how much I liked this album. He said it was cool a 13 year old knew about Marty Robbins. That night I decided to buy the full Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs album on vinyl. Best $20 ever
ОтветитьSomething quiet ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ love texas
ОтветитьAlways goosebumps and often, because it reminds me of my mother, even wet eyes.
ОтветитьQuite possibly the best country song ever written.
ОтветитьAbsolutely love this song
ОтветитьWhen I was in high school listening to radio, I heard a song that was sung so beautifully but the DJ never gave a name to the song or the singer so I couldn't buy the album. A few years later, I was watching TV and the news announced that Marty Robbins had died and played excerpts from some of his songs and one was that song that I heard on the radio years before--it turned out to be "El Paso." I rushed to the record store and bought an album with that song (Gunfighter Ballads) and I loved all the songs on that album.
ОтветитьTimeless!.. great song 👍🎶
ОтветитьBack when music was music
ОтветитьStone classic.
Ответить….Robbins suffered from PTSD (from fighting in the Solomon Islands during WWII)….He believed that race car driving helped with it.…
Ответить“….At last, here I am on the butte overlooking El Paso, I can see Rosa’s Cantina below…..” What lyrics…❤
Ответить….Marty Robbins had a HUGE talent (his voice & guitar skills would have made him one of the greats—but the ability to write & score such a beautiful song makes him a legend)….
….I had no idea that he had died so young….What a LOSS ❤❤❤
He actually painted a picture for you to see in your mind as he sung !!!❤️
ОтветитьCan ya hear that?? No facking auto tune. Brilliant. What an album too
ОтветитьOne of the best singers in Country music. I heard that he didn't like being on camera because he thought he was ugly, but he wasn't at all. Very humble man.
ОтветитьMarty Robbins has to be one of the best singers ever well done Marty ❤
ОтветитьMore than a quarter of a century ago I was stationed at Fort Bilss in El Paso when I was a young 2nd Lieutenant. It was in that fall of 1996 when I met and fell in love with the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Due to a quirk of fate, I did not find the courage to make her my wife, although I believe today that she wished for it.
Now, 27 years later, I am a "full bird" Colonel. I have never been married. And not a single day passes by on which I don't think of my beautiful Angel and those days back in El Paso.
Beautifully done.
I wonder who was playing the guitar embellishments.

ОтветитьLiberec (Czech Republic) Miluji tuto píseň...vždy se cítím uvnitř dobře, když ji slyším. ❤ Děkuji
ОтветитьMy dad listened to this guy back in the 80s. His songs have never left me or the stories behind them. Legend
ОтветитьI had the honor of knowing him as a child .
ОтветитьBeautiful. Was my Mother’s favourite song ❤
ОтветитьYes it is one of my favourite they don't sing like this anymore 🤨🤨🤨
ОтветитьLove it
