Primus - Rockpalast Festival 6 22 97

Primus is the most different band I've ever heard.

Shout out to Primus for kicking ass despite the unreceptive crowd. Perhaps there was, by sheer coincidence, a death in the family of almost every person in that crowd during that particular week.

Never having seen or heard this band, my first reaction was meh. But the more I listened, the more I like it. “My Name is Mud” channels Frank Zappa a bit.

The most dead crowd I've ever seen at a Primus show. Somebody wake Germany up.

The spacing on that 6 string bass is insane. I love it.

This performance of The Awakening and the "27 Seconds of Brain" are the reason why Brain is my favorite drummer who has played with Primus. Such a sense of groove and funk in his drum playing. The whole Brown Album era of Primus was amazing.
