My good friend died young at the age of 55 and he loved this song so I asked his wife would she like me to sing it at the funeral and she said yes. Well I've sang in front of over 1000 people and never flickered. His mam and dad, wife and 2 kids were stood in front of me as I sang so I looked down and looked up but couldn't make eye contact cos I knew I'd struggle, on the 3rd verse I happened to look at them and my lip quivered but everyone joined in so I got my composure back. I've never sang the song since and I will never sing at a funeral again. Thanks for the memories Shane.

I was not Born.but we need more music like this

In 1987 I was in Kathmandu, Nepal staying in a rat infested guest house on Freak Street.
Met a London Irish guy called Michael who had a walkman, two speakers, a Pogues tape and a ball of 0pium.
Hazy memory of those few night but listening to and singing Dirty Old Town with Michael, much to the annoyance of the other guests, is permanently etched in my mind.

I'm honoured to say and call Shane and the band my friend's R.I.P Shane you're at peace now my friend 😪😪😋
