That T38 you got is not a Panzer 1 its a panzer 2 the first panzer had 2 MGs in the turret you have a panzer2 it had the mg and 38mm cannon in the turret

Either way is okay. It don’t wait till the model is finished, it’s much harder that way.

The 38T was a Czechoslovakian tank. It was produced after Germany invaded Czechoslovakia because they had only inferior tanks at the time and saw the weaknesses when they invaded Poland. It was a fairly good tank in the early days of the war and was one of the tanks that Otto Carius crewed in the early days and was wounded in. He received a facial wound and the scaring can be clearly seen in later photos. Otto was one of the most decorated German tanks commanders of the war for those who do not know the name. He was on par with aces like Whittman and Knispel.

That dude in the hobby shop was clueless about tanks. Skoda built a model 35 and 38 tank prior to the annexation of what was then called Czechoslavakia by Germany in 1938. These tanks were integrated into the German panzer units. During the invasion of France up to 30% of the tanks used were czech built. Production of the 38 continued, and they even saw service in the invasion of the soviet union, although they were a little dated by then. The chassis of the 38 was used to create various jagdpanzers, and the excellent final incarnation the jagdpanzer 38T, aka Hetzer. It is not and never will be a Panzer I.

p.s. this is a great kid from Tamaya and is not as simplistic as some of their other models

Panzer 38(t) was designed and built by the Skoda works in Czechoslovakia. The Germans took over the existing tanks of the Czech army and kept building them for a while. They called it the "38(t)" after the year they annexed Czechoslovakia (1938) and the "t" is for "Tschechien" which is the German name for Czechoslovakia.

Those link n lengh tracks are the best in business. Tamiya kits with those plastic tracks ( their more recent kits) are my go to when buying a model. Also I vote for the Panzer 38t to paint.

I've always found it easier to prepaint the model or paint sub assemblies.

The one source I know for armored fighting vehicle progressions is the H Chapers of Advancer Squad Leader. There might be an online version of that would be awesome for model making, since there were so many variants of each model.

Paint the panzer 38 T

Drilling out the MG barrells is an easy skill to master, but not your first 1 or 2 drilled out!....try it!....

Please paint both. An unpainted model looks like a toy. A painted one looks like an scultpture.

Watch for the zapca glue. It is rather dangerous. To apply it, I do use a small wire. It actually is very useful as you can control the amount of glue and when you do have a buildup, you can filed it with a dremel and get it again very thin to continue using it....

And a 38t is not a panzer one or 2 and a panzer 3 and 4 are medium and some say so was the panther even know it wasn't then tiger king tiger the stug 3 made more kills then any armored vehicle in the german army ss amd so fourth panzer 4 was the most produced actual tank

The Panther and the Stug are the gun German tanks/ of that era IMO. I suppose you're working up the chain though.

Their is no tank better looking than the panzer tank but that panzer IV is epic i have built one before but it didn't survive My little brothers Wrath
