ОтветитьWhat a legend 7 years late still helping
ОтветитьDo you need to reformat this if you're using the same hard drive for rekordbox and serato?
ОтветитьThank you 😊
ОтветитьWon't even lie, clearest tutorial I have found 11/10 worked perfectly thank you
ОтветитьOk, so after I have done all this, when I go back into the Music Folder on the computer, there is a new Serato Folder in my music folder....rignt next to the "OLD" folder. How so you stop it from making the new folder? My Serato keeps reading the "new" folder on my Computer rather than the Serato folder on my hard drive. Thoughts?
Ответитьdoes anyone know if this also saves cue points?
ОтветитьNice tips! Thanks a lot!! 👍👍
ОтветитьAfter doing that can i delete my music file from my internal so to free up some space?
ОтветитьIt's crazy that Serato haven't made it simple to move move files/folders/crates etc and/or sync the whole set up across computers, from within their user interface
ОтветитьNot pink orange
ОтветитьViewing ur video on the road.. so I will attempt this once I’m home. However, once the library is copied to the external.. will all previous set ques, samples ect be available & active?
ОтветитьMy crates aren’t shown in the music tab when I open a new finder window
ОтветитьThis somehow caused me to lose all my crates
ОтветитьAre you in California? I'd like to pay you to do this for me. Can I give you my number and you can walk me through this?
ОтветитьI have a question, Once you did this. How would we keep the backups up to date.
The way I’m doing it now is literally adding new music to my main SSD then what I do is copy that Folder into my Backups by deleting pre-existing backup / music folder … and replacing it with new… the problem with this is. Every time serato will lose track of music source & I have to relocate serato to the Back up. Meaning in the case of an on site emergency. I would not be ready to dj Instantly.
Is there a better way to do my music backups / keeping my music external hard drives up to date with my current source which is an ssd
Please help ?
Great video ! But is it required to rename the file on your internal hard drive ?
Ответитьwith this method the "added" tags will be updated. so you wont be able to do a selection based od date added.
ОтветитьMy music was in downloads, I created a separate folder in my finder "music". Then added all my downloaded music to this folder, I made a copy of this folder, and dragged it to my external hard drive. I went into Serato, rescanned, and then went to relocate files and it cannot locate hardly any of them. What is going on?
ОтветитьHey. URGENT QUESTION! I have a dj gig and its my 1st time ever djing on CDjs. They want me to bring my flash drive only, but I use Serato/controller. My biggest concern is, once I transfer my Serato library to the flash drive, does it copy with the hot cues????
I hope you see this in time! My gig is tomorrow lol im having a little panic attack!!!
Could you now delete that folder from your internal harddrive to make space?
ОтветитьWhile this post generally gets people in the right direction, seeing responses as recent as a week ago shows that some people still have trouble.
Perhaps it would be useful to explain some of the logic behind how Serato library management works. A useful fundamental concept to understand is that the serato folder contains a Serato database file "database V2", which is what tells Serato where files are stored. Together with the individual crate files in the same folder, Serato knows where to find the actual music file.
So when @[Official RANE] showed how to use the Serato program to "locate lost files", that function makes Serato do the work of scanning the folder you pointed to, matching the music file names if found anywhere within said folder and updating the "database V2" file with where the file is found. Because the serato folder was copied from the internal drive, the database V2 file in it says music files are on the internal drive. The "locate lost files" function effectively changes the location information in the "database V2" file to locations on the external drive.
While this may sound complicated, it may help some of you better understand that other things such as Serato preferences; i.e. 'Use AutoGain', are not in this information. Things like that are stored elsewhere. <- thats another explanation.
@Daniel said this: "But now you can't play without that external drive?"
This is where you have to understand that when Serato starts up it looks for any Serato folder, whether on the internal drive or external. Thats why when you then take your external drive and plug it into your friends machine, you will see both their crate library and yours. Serato finds the music in each crate depending on where the "database V2" says the music files are located.
INTERNAL DRIVE > Serato > database V2 > points to where music file is
EXTERNAL DRIVE > _Serato > database V2 > points to where music file is
I believe all this is accurate & hope it helps.^^
If anyone wants to fact check this I am open to stand corrected.
Does it copy/save all your Que points on each song??
ОтветитьBut now you can't play without that external drive? Why wouldent you just make a copy
Ответитьdo you have to pay for a license to be able to do this?
Ответитьis it possible to plug in play in any controller?
Ответитьthanks alot, you made it really simple
ОтветитьIf you add music to serato in the future even tho you bout your other tracks on that drive does it automatically go to the drive or you have to place it in there as well?
ОтветитьCool but can’t I just copy everything right in serato
Ответитьgreat video
ОтветитьThis keep or save cue points from the frist pc ??
ОтветитьGreat turorial! Straight to the point, and very clear explanation. THANK YOU
ОтветитьYes understand but when I look in my music folder I have just Serato ( showing crates, history log etc18mb) and Serato back up but not as you have Serato Music. When opening Serato it takes everything from my iTunes and I work from that import plus make crates using the iTunes files in Serato.. So question how to copy Serato to another mac when Serato Music does not show up.?
ОтветитьThanks bro!
Ответитьok it work, but how can i save order of songs that was in previous crate?
ОтветитьThanks a lot for this man, appreciate it
ОтветитьInstead of changing the name on the file so serato dont recognize can you just leave it along so if something was to happen and loose all your music can you just hook back up your external hard drive and get everything back just like you had it?
ОтветитьOnce you take your external hard drive to any other computer you also have to have the serato DJ pro downloaded dont you? And is it going to be organized as the first computer you have ?
ОтветитьQuick question buddy ? I have all my music in my serato program how do I locate l that ? I noticed that you have it under my serato music .. well what would mine be under?
Ответитьsome good tunes (Y)
ОтветитьDoes this works on window
ОтветитьThat is great for the location of the music itself, but what about the library (as in the crates etc). Can we tell serato to keep its library data in another location?

Ответитьwhen i click music it just comes up with serato and serato back_back up , not serato libary? how do i find serato libary! thanks
ОтветитьHey does anyone know will this process help with CPU usage in Serato since your using the external hard drive not your internal as i am experiencing Lags and songs just cutting out in the middle of a set.?? Please any help or suggestions!!
ОтветитьHey RaneDJ I have my music on my laptop in the "Music" folder and now I want to transfer everything to an external drive. I can't get this method to work. I guess because windows 10 won't allow me to rename that folder. Is there a work around this?
Ответитьthank you for the video. how do you keep updating (adding music) your hard drive as you go?
ОтветитьTHANK YOU! Serato doesn't specifically target this application on their website, which is surprising. Did Serato create a new _Serato folder on your internal drive after you moved the old one?
Does the _Serato folder on your external drive keep your Preferences/Settings also, or do you have to set that up on each computer?
thank you soo muchhh
ОтветитьMan i did it now i can't find any of my songs
