Very Hepful!
ОтветитьCraig, Very clear and helpful tutorial. But it isn't really a solution for lightroom in that you have to export the picture to PS. I remain flabbergasted that Digimarc have not provided a solution for LR. I will probably use your work-around (and thanks for all those months working it out) but gave up on Digimarc previously as I couldn't use it within Lightroom.
ОтветитьSorry you're having audio problems, the audio is fine on my end even at regular volumes. If you're still having issues with the audio check out the written tutorial (linked in the description) which is the exact same workflow as the video.
ОтветитьHi Stephen, thanks for checking out the tutorial! I agree it's not the best workflow possible. I've spoken with Digimarc about this and it's not really up to them to integrate into Lightroom, Adobe have to make that decision and it's not something on their roadmap as far as I know. Wish I could be more helpful...
ОтветитьI spoke to Digimarc and Adobe at Photoshop World in Las Vegas. Digimarc gave me the link to this page and Adobe said they would speak to their Techies about building it into Lightroom like it is in PS. There were several other people at the LR booth that also expressed an interest in it. We'll see if/when it happens.
ОтветитьThank you for this excellent walkthrough, Craig! I am really flabbergasted at this blatant fingerpointing of Digimarc, the "not our problem" attitude. It is their business that is suffering, not Adobe's. Jeffrey Friedl would probably whip out such a plug in in a week or two if they paid him for it. There is no excuse other than laziness for Digimarc not to do this themselves.
ОтветитьGreat job on this turorial, I am still coming up to speed with Digimarcing. I have not even successfully watermarked an image in CS6, OSX 10.9. Their website says the plugin is only supported to CS4 and 10.6 (32 bit). That can't be right?? I bought the $99 1,000 images to try it. Not impresses so far.
ОтветитьGood job. Thanks!
ОтветитьHi Craig, Thanks for the helpful tutorial. One question/comment - when you exported the image from LR as a Jpeg and then re-opened the image in PS for the Droplet Action, aren't you then re-saving the Jpeg and deteriorating the quality. Would it be better to export from LR as a Tiff and then save it as a Jpeg from the PS Droplet? Thanks
ОтветитьThanks Craig a ton. Cheers
ОтветитьCraig! Completely wonderful tutorial. Around 2009, I knew there had to be a more efficient way to embed Digimarc watermarks in my exports for the web than manually going through that process each time. I began creating photoshop droplets to work very similarly to your workflow method. And yes, I really wish Adobe and Digimarc would get together and figure out a way to do this directly from Lightroom! I wonder how many of us have come up with the same solution on our own over the years? The difference is, you made this video to explain it all!
As you said, this is your particular workflow, but I wanted to add how my workflow differs slightly, just so your viewers can see how what you've explained here can be used in different ways depending on each photographers needs.
My main difference is that I do the down-sizing in LR during export as a TIF, also adding a small visible watermark in the left or right corner on the way out, as another copyright precaution. I have several different sized user presets for the various dimensions, larger for my own website, small for social media etc., that I use in my initial TIF export. Like you I'm always concerned that sizing down after embedding the Digimarc watermark might degrade it, which is why I came up with the method of LR doing the down-size prior to Digimarc embed, although your solution of backing up in your history is an elegant solution I hadn't thought of, allow you to do two sizes at once. Nice one!
But by having LR make the TIF in the size I want, I don't have to create two Digimarc presents for landscape and portrait when my droplet creates the watermarked JPG for the web. Both your method and my method basically do the same thing, just differently.
That initial TIF export is basically disposable, only needed to create the Digimarc-ed JPG from. When I need a different size exported, I just go back to LR and re-export from LR, choosing the appropriate LR export preset size.
And like you, I have a Digimarc droplet created for each year I have created my work, in my case going back to 1984, so my LR export preset has the additional step of my having to select the copyright year of the droplet I want to use. But still, like your method, very automated, just one additional step for the specific year.
Thank you again for taking the time to post this. Other photographers ask me about my LR/Digimarc export method all the time and now I have a place to point them. You have saved me countless hours of re-explaining!
Best of luck to you in your photographic journey.
Thanks so much for this excellent tutorial, really easy to follow and a brilliant action
ОтветитьThank you for this video. it has cleared up many questions I had.
I appreciate it alot.
Thank you for clarifying what would otherwise remain a mystery to me. I've used Photoshop before but had not used Lightroom until a week ago. My Digimarcs are embedded and photos are ready for the web. Smooth, Craig. Well done!
ОтветитьHi Craig, Thanks for the informative, easy to understand video. One question, in the action, is it possible to update the date for the Watermark year, or do you simply have to begin again with a new action to update the watermark year?
ОтветитьHi Craig,
Thank you for this informative and interesting tutorial. Very helpful.
Craig, is there any update to this process or do you still process the same way?
ОтветитьThis is a great step-by-step video for Digi-marking images, but I still have a few questions.
1. Do you go through three separate processes, one to export the full res images to DropBox then a second and third to export the dig -marked 900 & 1500 images, both landscape & portrait?
2. Is it possible to open multiple images in PS, then batch process using this droplet?
Thanks....
You're awesome
ОтветитьThanks for this vid! Third year that I'm using it - just updating the copyright year ;-)
ОтветитьCraig,
Great workflow video. Thanks for putting this together. Digimarc should hire you for their tutorials which are sorely lacking. Also wanted to know, when you digimarc the same photo with different resolutions, is this considered one use of the watermark against your subscription service or multiple? Thanks.
Hey Craig - like everyone else has already said - awesome tutorial! I have attempted to set this up using Lightroom CC 2015 and Photoshop CC 2015 - and it works almost perfectly. The only issue I am having is after I have launched the file export from Lightroom - with Photoshop popping up displaying an "Embed Watermark: Verify" dialog prior to each of the exports (900 & 1500 px) - requiring me to click 'Ok' to clear them both - before the successful export of each of the Digimarc-ed files completes. I have made sure the 'Toggle dialog on/off'' checkbox is not selected for all of the recorded actions in Photoshop - but still no luck. Any ideas? Many thanks :-)
ОтветитьCan you tell me how to transfer or use my Digimarc from Photoshop CS6 to Photoshop CC?
I do not have a clue! Thanks so much for your time.
This my second viewing this video because last time I completed the tasks as you explained but I needed a refresher course. Thanks again for this insightfully creative way to use Digimarc and PhotoshopTip
ОтветитьCouldn't make this work for me. Great idea if it works. LRCC Classic, new iMac
Ответитьthanks
