Got my late 07 STR since 10 years now and not even thinking about giving it away. When I bought it I also looked into a 08 X358 XJR and a Quattroporte. The looks made me choose the STR despite fewer options than the XJR and being a bit slower. The Maserati was outruled for reliability. The STR is actually very reliable, especially compared to the 01 E39 535i I had before. Still love my STR like on day one, also will keep it as an oldtimer later. Also consumption isn't bad, 31mpg at 80mph cruises is great for such a car

Love the channel and this review. I just purchased a 2003 S Type R I live in Florida but I'm originally from Cheadle Hulme in Cheshire, as a 57 year old I was raised with the likes of such cars as the XJS. so its time in my life to own a Jag so which one? I started looking at XJS but always liked the myth of the Gangster car from the 1960's the original S type so my eye started to shift to the newer S Type R finally one popped up in California at a very good price.
Two months later here we are I'm the proud owner of a 2003 S Type R and I love it you can feel the pedigree in this car the way she sits on the road along with great classic looks she's in black and looks like a Bad Kitty, I'm dealing with ten years of non service all the usual stuff nothing really bad but she has low miles and is a rust free example so its a trade off all the normal stuff to service along with all four corners suspension ouch $$$$$. but there you have it a future classic. I like to be different with the cars I drive and you just don't see any S Type R on the road here.
If you live in Florida and own an STR drop me a line guys I would love to Speak JAG with you. PS Buy one of these Classics Jags Now before the price goes through the roof, you definitely won't regret it.

Test drove pre facelift xfr a couple of months ago... dealer came along, unfortunately. This said, of course the looks are better than str. Immediate power, I can only imagine what it would be like if I drove it alone on a highway. 2 things I can’t stand about the xfr though are 1. The gear “wheel” selector thing, and 2. The fatass spokes on the steering wheel...awful, only Shaq could wrap his hands around it. Of course, the XFR is roughly 2x the cost of STR. A metallic green str is probably the best looking one, and whenever I see one with low miles and for a reasonable price, my imagination goes places.

I love my jag even for being the V6 model. OK on gas. Comfortable on the inside, easy to drive, quiet. It's been a turn key car for me, thankfully, but I love driving it to work on the highway everyday. Just hit 170K and still pulls hard, AC blows cold, shifts nice, interior still squishy. 👌

Here in the U.S I new a guy that had one of these he took the mufflers off and straight piped it added oversized pulley to thy supercharger. It was loud and insanely fast topped it out on interstate 86 in western NY well over 175 mph on the bridge crossing chautauqua lake

I bought an STR way back in 2003 - I still have it, though I don't drive it much now that I work from home. It's only done 150,000 miles. I live in California so there's no rust and the condition is excellent both inside and out. The wife thinks I should get rid of it and get something electric instead. But trade-in value is only about $2500-$3000 US. I still love it so much - so it might come down to who I love more - the wife or the Jag!

I have owned 2 of these. Both ‘05’s. I really love this car. The upside is that they are unique and hold the last true “Jaguar” look before the 2009 lineup became conventional. The downside of these beauty’s is that the depreciation, which is big, although it makes it affordable, you may find yourself spend more on repairs and upkeep than what the car is worth. 1 bad year of repairs will exceed the value of the car. Unless of course, you yourself are able to work on them. Most people won’t.

My first Jag, a 3ltr Stype, loved the car so much so my next 5 cars have been Jags. So much nicer than the German alternatives. Jag number 6 is an XJ Portfolio 3ltr diesel, loads of grunt, luxury and economy.

Bit of ageism in these videos, no?
Got my 1st Jag, an x308 ‘01 XJR when I was 34. Also had an x100 ‘03 XK8 coupe at 37. Both are, to me, MASSIVELY more appealing than subsequent models. Endless charm, a certain “waftyness”, effortless refined power and beautiful design and materials make a Jag.
A Jag should not aim to be a Porsche. I am 42 now, (maybe a little old?!?!) and have a six speed 911 (996) with sport exhaust. Fun, but also not a car for road trips. The Jag F-Type, though good looking, doesn’t feel like a proper Jag to me. Something has been lost over the years, and I prefer to continue living in the past when it comes to my cats!

I think STR looks way sportier, handsome and aggressive compared to XJR. Though XJR will be faster in a straight line but, only until some turns and curves arrive....

That unit tested must have an issue with the engine because th3 reviewer says that has no explosive power which is not the case on this model as it proves the 5.3s to 100km/h. One issue could also be the gearbox computer of the ZF6HP26 box which is adaptative and thus could have learned to drive "slow". This is a fast car as much as a Porsche 964

My previous Jag was an XJ6C (series 2 Jag). It was 15 years old when i bought it and ordinary family cars would out perform it, but it was a comfortable eye catching bigish car.. Now I have a 2002 S Type R and it performs like a scalded cat compared and is comfort and refinement plus, compared to the 70s Jag. I'm recently retired but still like performance and the S Type R is still very quick for the money...

I can compare the interior space of the stype with B7 passat. Jag is actually smaller, can't roll seats back as much as in the Passat.

This was quite shocking to me.

Otherwise the feeling is spacious but if you take it by your limbs not that spacious.
