I chose this cpu for my first pc build, and it is managing a "cool" 80 degrees Celsius with the noctua NH d12 and a positive air pressure jn the cabinet. And that is while playing Cyberpunk at 1440p with ultra settings and high raytracing and getting 140 fps.

LTT thought they had defective chip because they didn't understand this, then they posted 4 weeks later some hand waving video explaining wrong concepts because they didn't understand it. Not sure if they do even today.

I found your channel via the video about Linus Tech Tips (which I always avoided by intuition) and would like to thank you.

I'm currently planning my first 16-Core rig – coming from my current box I built over
a decade ago with a Xeon E3-1230 and I am really beginning to like this channel.

As someone into dataviz and UX, I very much appreciate the highly readable graphs and the countdown bars
that perfectly telegraph when you have to pause the video to keep looking at one of them in more detail.

I was positively surprised that you include information that is really important for me as someone who's not only looking for
good performance with games, but also with bulk compilation, 2D/3D asset creation (CAD- as well as art/gamedev-related)
and various other sysops and development tasks.

I don't feel especially good about spending 600 quid on a CPU, but it does look like this is the most future-proof CPU for me.

The only thing I'm still uncertain about is the cooling – the official product page recommends liquid cooling, but I'm paranoid
about liquids near electronics and this box will sit within a mobile 19" rack that is transported over bumpy roads… are liquid
coolers robust enough for that? Or can/should I just go with one of them chonky copper+aluminium ones like the Arctic
Cooling Freezer 7X currently sitting on my Xeon?

PS, two more benchmarks I would have really liked: throughput of hardware acceleration for encryption and video codecs.

You don't need to worry too much about 7950x temps. 240mm aio with four (push pull configuration)120mm fans is enough for 7950x. Or two 120mm and one 140mm fan is also good. So be easy.

I got a 7950X3D with a Noctua NH-D15 and it can hit 5700MHz but it seems to have a more consistent frequency of around 5400MHz which I'm still really happy with considering I don't have to deal with the stress of liquid in my system.

I have a 7900x, no over clocking nothing just stock out of the box. I have it on an evga clc 280 all on one. My idle Temps are 55-60 and it goes to like 72c when I just open up a browser.

Is this normal? Seems insane.

Compared to my FX-8350 system which has been rock solid flawless, the Ryzen AM5 platform has been a steaming pile of 5h1t. I can't stand this. I haven't used a system this bad since I bought an IBM xSeries 455 EFI Itanium 2 systemback in the wearly 2000's. Which arguable is the worst comptuer I have ever owned... followed by this 7950x and Gigabyte AORUS x670 Elite AX Gaming Mobo and 128gb RAM. What a nightmare, it has fought me tooth and nail every step of the way and I still don't have a usable system. I can get to BIOS and that took me weeks just to get it to POST with video on teh screen.

EFI can swck a tvrd and DDR5 right along with it.

Well, I got my 7950X set up and going and dig'n it. The system wont be running at full tilt like in these tests so I won't lose 0.1 second of sleep with this cpu. Hell, coming from an 11 year old i7 2600K, that's still hump'n BTW, a match and a twig would be a huge improvement.

95c is obscenely hot. I use to freak out back in the day(2010…lol) when my 4890 video card went over 60c but it never had a problem……ever. Fuking space heater in the winter.

We’re going to be melting silicone soon enough. Synthetic diamonds are the future of CPU’s(hopefully).

People here can't comprehend what's happening with the 95C thing.
Intel gives the CPU max power (watts), the CPU reaches 100C and it throttles.
AMD gives the CPU room to hit 95C and it doesn't throttle. If you have a better cooler it will boost higher within the power limit at 95C.
Temperature doesn't equal to power draw. There are a ton of temperature sensors in the CPU, if AMD would've shown you another sensor reading which reads 75C that wouldn't have changed a thing except nobody would be freaking out. Typical AMD thing, their presentation and PR still sucks.
Not to mention 1. you can set lower limit if 95C bothers you 2. we can expect these high temperatures when we're talking about bleeding edge nodes at high frequencies, the transistor density is immense -> more heat. 3. unless you render all the time you won't see 95C. Under games the temperature is around 70-75C.
