My own interpretation of both of their lyrics;

_"But if lay down, and I play dead, and I stay dead

Then will you get bored of killing me?"_

I think her verses here, the female is being spicy, toxic, fierce, your typical popular, desired bad girl. She causes conflict within the relationship with the male so that he doesn't get bored with her, or so that she feels their relationship won't feel stagnant. So she is asking if she lays down, plays dead, stay dead, sort of being submissive, and not herself, because he wants things to be different between them, and not as they are right now. And if she's unable to be herself, that would be killing her, so she then asks if he would get bored of her if she changes to that. She also says if he'll get sick of being the monster in her head, a nightmare to her, but that's also what drives the relationship forward, albeit in an unhealthy, but exciting way. Basically, when it's good it's very good, when it's bad, it's very, very bad. It's just who she is, and he is enticed like a moth to a flame to her.

Her silhouette is like a premonition; whenever he sees her shadow, he fears what's going to happen when she fully comes into view. Good, bad, "What's going to happen now? What will tomorrow bring, is something about to happen?" He doesn't know what she want, she is a mystery to him. He can't read her. "With you I don't ever feel calm" that's good and that's also bad. There's electricity, but also a feeling of unease, unrest, can never put your guard down or relax. "You don't understand the pain it brings" the female either doesn't, or she probably does, but not the full extent. She can only know and see what's on the surface level, while he deals with it inside of himself, not knowing what to do. About the giving wings and setting free verses, it can be about letting him go, but it also can be him wanting her to let him become a better version of himself, letting him be happier in or out of the relationship, to a point where he doesn't have to worry about things anymore, and can settle. Set him free from the pain and the misery. Not every day has to be a struggle, a fight, love and hate, on the daily. In early relationships it's like that, but the longer you're in one, that tends to die down where both parties get to a point where they realize and acknowledge each others' peeves, annoyances, own personal struggles, and either let them handle that on their own, or support them through their endeavors.

She knows he can't leave her, so she could be using that to her advantage, how folks think that they one will always have somebody, so they feel like they can do anything and get away with it and be fine, but then be Pikachu shock face when they eventually do leave them. The male is calling this evil voodoo because she has a seemingly magical hold on him that he can't leave or escape, as if he's been bewitched. "Got me coming back for more even when I've been screwed," Even though he's effed, he keeps coming back to her on his own volition. He wants this, desires it. Wants it to work as much as she does, if not more. But somebody has to budge. If not, then leaving seems the only other option available, and it seems he has this in mind in his thoughts. The feelings of leaving a person that you love, or them loving you, is really a melancholic thing to even contemplate. A waste of potential or future, to benefit your present, because things are so rough one can't see how to continue forward with them, together. Heh, "everything is like a test, I better not text or I'll come off desperate," that goes both ways.

So now he's asking the same questions that she first asked. But he is wondering, if he does it, will she feel regret, remorse, sorrowful for the past/present things that were said and done, because that has a lingering effect on him. He thinks she is doing this for her own pleasure, that's she's gaslighting him (maybe she is maybe she isn't, and he is just assuming so. Their relationship is so tumultuous and volatile so it's not far off to assume a lack of communication) and that's confusing him. Confusing to him and possibly to her, because they both understand different things in different ways. It also makes him wonder if he is the issue, and he can feel like he is not, that she is. Vice versa for her. "Even though I offer all of the solutions," but not the RE*solution. For the male, who knows maybe he actually does offer all of the solutions on the table for her to see, and she doesn't accept them nor believe them or that there's an issue. *"I wish you loved me like I love you, it's stupid," she does love him, it's just not in the way he wants her to. "When I'm alone with you I never feel lucid," That can be both good and bad. "I wish I wasn't struck by Cupid, I wish when I first saw you I knew this," the common saying/phrase is "It's better to have loved, than not to have loved at all," but that really depends on the individual. Sometimes it brings more enjoyment and fulfillment of at least having experienced it, sometimes, it brings more pain and destruction and trauma that one wishes one never found it at all if they knew that things would end up like this. "When I'm with you I feel so useless," is not in the literal sense, but regarding their relationship he feels as if he's useless because he is trying, he is doing things, but none of it is working out. Can go both ways.

x5 asking it over and over again, as THAT is the true question that needs an answer, a resolution. To change and move forward together, or stay in the same toxic relationship and eventually break up and move away from each other.
