Rent truly is due
ОтветитьFIRE VIDEO MY DUDE
ОтветитьHaving rewatched 03 recently, it is completely unnecessary and ruins the prestige of the series. The swath you instructed people to watch is mostly anime filler taken from later parts in the series and mangled. For example, Ed is only, like, 12 during a majority of it and helps Hughes' wife give birth in one of the episodes, something that actually happens much later on with a completely different character. It's not only horribly animated, but it's awfully written, too. The small amount of manga content it DOES cover without botching is not necessary for the rest of the story, as it only gives insight on Barry and the Gold guy who hangs out with Scar. It's not required for viewing whatsoever, but I will agree that the first 14 episodes of Brotherhood are jam packed and paced extremely fast, something very noticeable on rewatches, but most people won't notice it at all on first viewing.
As for the AoT stuff, Ymir's love is explored perfectly visually several times. She was hated and treated like a slave with no love at all from anyone. Showing her "love" after she got her titan powers made her feel wanted. It's a simple human emotion stemming from a manipulated young girl. She knew nothing else and could only base her experience off her own, so to her, despite everything he did, the king was the only one who ever wanted her. When he dies, she feels the need to keep going for him, but when she stumbles upon Mikasa, she sees the opportunity for someone to show her what love TRULY is, so she guides her and Eren forward to a path where she can best see that, hence the genocide and death at the end. Eren was really more in control of that than she, as he says, as Ymir really only interfered with Mikasa to get that ending and closure she wanted.
The ending was good and answered yours and many others issues already while encapsulating everything the story was about since the beginning. The real issue with the series is the horrid writing and pacing in S4, as well as S1 and 2 to an extent. That's enough to give it to FMA: B alone as it's easily the overall better show, but when speaking on just the endings I'd still agree with you on FMA. It's a more concise, shorter story that does what it wants and gets out. It breaks the mold by doing everything near perfectly, even if the ending/after credits is a bit generic.
Goated video! (koro btw)
ОтветитьI mean the king of Shonen is either Dragon Ball, Slam Dunk or One Piece. But that aside, great video. I think that although FMA Brotherhood has way better character writing, I think Attack on Titan has it beat in every other category. The story is stronger and more consistent with its themes. I even prefer the ending of Attack on Titan to FMAB. This is a very controversial take, but the ending of AOT felt profound and it was a haunting and raw final episode. Sure the Ymir stuff is an ass pull, but I thought it was bitter sweet in the best way possible. FMAB’s ending felt like a step down from the rest of the series, and it feels like it kinda just ends. No real flaws, but it didn’t really have an impact on me at all. Neither endings are the best endings in anime, but I prefer Attack on Titans ending.
Also Attack on Titan has one of the best opening episodes and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood has one of the worst.
Great video, man
ОтветитьBefore the comment section gets heated i just wanna appreciate you giving fair treatment to both series(At least IMO) while judging.
ОтветитьI'd go with AOT for characters personally so it's a 3-3 kinda tie. I just like Attack on Titan's cast more which probably is because of the setting it is in making me care for them that little bit more, while FMAB's cast is really good they don't quite get to that level for me because the story feels like it is running and I am more invested in the plot than the characters themselves. I'm definitely biased because I do prefer AOT as a whole too but I respect how you came to your conclusions.
Great video.
Great video bro!!
ОтветитьIt's neither cause it's Gintama lmao jk great stuff here
ОтветитьIt’s neither of these it’s Gintama 🗣🔥
Ответитьwhy you are watching this video lol.
ОтветитьOne Piece solos
ОтветитьWhy does this video have barely any views on it??? This stuff was amazing! I could feel the hard work you put in this video you are so underrated! The details, the info and your hard work in this video was absolute! Keep up the good work 👍🏽
ОтветитьIts one piece
Ответитьi didnt finish AOT still got to watch the 2 specials (been spoiled on them sadly) But i gotta say AOT and Full Metal use thier sound tracks so hard it gets crazy the emotions you feel and the thril OR shear axiety like rush.
But i gotta say both shows have a difference on "political" and "gore" tonesAot felt like the walking dead.. Intro duce some ppl they get munched on. Full metal was very anti gov exposing corruptiong probably why its relivent today with the whole issues going on...
That being said both deal with thier version of that religious group you cant even say the name of with out the comment being deleted due to how the goverment is controlling things. and that similar style of era with ww2.
I am on Erens Side, wipe out the world. The marleys attacked then cried when they get retaliated against. They lock ppl of a blood or religious type into "zones/camps" Hmm... Aot's endng is just a repeating cycle with nukes and mikasa being hated for stopping it.
Great video. Really liked it. Hope you have a mil subscribers one day. 😁
ОтветитьI feel AOT and FMAB are in a class of their own.
I enjoy One Piece, but I’m so happy not every series is like One Piece, and goes on for 25+ years.
Both AOT and FMAB tell a well thought out story, and don’t overstay their welcome.
S+ tier anime
uhhhh, aot let me down when Eren did 'what he could' (because destiny or plot) just to save his inner circle of friends; and the hallucigenia was there like yeah 'human take my power and do whatever'
ОтветитьDifferent generation, cannot be compared so between the two I pick something else lmao: Saint Seiya
Ответитьas soon as you said Reiner isn't a likeable character, this video lost all credibility for me
ОтветитьMy interpretation of Ymir's stockholm syndrome/love is the same as my interpretation of why Eren thought it was a good idea to try and kill everyone. Basically they were young, stupid, and obsessed by a single idea (Freedom for Eren/Recognition for Ymir). I think the fact that this is Shonen (Coming of age story), highlights just what kind of stupid things youth can do when they're given godlike powers. It's realistic in the sense that, under the age of 30, you probably don't make great decisions most of the time... I'm 29 and I'm still stupid af. But shout out to Conqueror of Shamballa cuz highkey I like that movie even though everyone denounced it for Brotherhood.
ОтветитьIt's One Piece. Followed by FMA. SnK tried but it's not even close
ОтветитьIf one piece has one better ending, it will beat both of them.
ОтветитьTbh I consider AoT more of a seinen in the latter half
ОтветитьFMA is top 5 anime all time for sure, if not top 3. But I'd have to say AOT takes #1. Also, with how it turned out, I don't know if you can really classify AOT as a straight-up shonen.
Both are very tightly written with few if any plotholes, but the way Isayama constantly went back and recontextualized events with new info was nothing short of genius, with some plot developments planned out years in advance in the manga, and the stuff that wasn't planned was so well done you would think it was.
In terms of thematic message, it's up to personal preference imo. FMA is more personal while AOT comments on mankind's issues on a larger scale. FMA does dip its toes into larger issues like politics, but it's all more surface level stuff like having bad guys be corrupt government officials. I'm not trying to say it's shallow, far from it, It even draws on moral lessons of the right hand path vs the left hand path in traditional western esotericism, which is really cool imo. But on the whole it's a more digestible message about being grateful for life, what it means to be a person, why revenge is bad, etc.
Whereas attack on titan, both literally and by allegory, discusses things like racial guilt, hatred of the "other", genocide, nuclear war, and indoctrination. Most if not all of its themes remain very relevant today. When websites started posting articles about how AOT was serving the needs of one political group or another, you knew then it was saying something relevant. I know people don't like politics, especially in tv shows and movies, but with the stuff it has to say, like not blindly hating those different from us, and not placing the blame of our ancestors' actions on those of us alive today, I think it's one of the most important fictional stories in our current society. It's stuff people need to hear.
FMAB is a great anime but i think in categories like plot, character development, and soundtrack, there is no other anime that performs like AoT. Never has there been an anime so divisive because of how well the characters are written to walk the line between good and evil. It will forever be a pillar of the medium
ОтветитьThis is the first video that I see of this channel, but DAMN WAS IT GOOD! I wish that I could articulate my feelings towards both shows as well as you did here man, mad respect and +1 subscriber!
ОтветитьThe king of Shonen (eventually) is HxH but it doesn't meet the criteria of "the ending" yet
ОтветитьI wouldn't call AoT a shonen, but it is undoubtedly the king of anime, so there is no need to watch the video.
ОтветитьWell for myself i dont like to compare 2 absolute masterpiece's in a way which who is better. Both are in my opinion some of the greatest form of entertainment we have in anime, probably even more then just anime. AoT will always be my favourite cuz its my very first show, so it naturaly has a big place in my heart.
ОтветитьIs AoT even a Shonen? It feels much more like a Seinen
ОтветитьI appreciate you making this video, but I don't even think this is a debate, while I do consider AOT a good show, FMA is in a league of it's own.
In both shows the whole plot is based around one character and their life story, Ymir and Hohenheim, both former slaves obtaining game changing powers, but Hohenheom is just a much superior character and the show does such a masterful job telling his whole back story in one single episode, he is a strong foundation to a strong plot, while Ymir for me is the weakest part of AOT and it's a shame because she's supposed to be the most important part. They could have written her better, I'd recommend you check out a game called House of Fata Morgana where the main villain Morgana is a similar slave girl to Ymir, except her backstory is phenomenal and heartbreaking.
But most importantly FMA is a greater story, it's a one of a kind, for it can be described by one word, it is a story about "Truth". I appreciate you mentioning the concept of Truth, but it's so much more important than people realize, I almost can't believe that Arakawa came up with such a wonderful idea. The Truth character or concept is based around the ancient idea of primoreal being, known in many religions by different names. I don't want to delve too deep into this but I'll just say that this idea is a long forgotten "Truth" that Arakawa brought back to life for a generation that desperately needs it, lest they end up falling in despair. This very fundamental concept is missing from AOT hence Eren does fall in despair and can't figure a way out as all ways seem equally terrifying to him. It's important for people to understand that AOT is a warning of what not to do, it is a story of " War and Peace" of " Love and Hate", but without "Truth" it's world feels Godless, and it's meant to be that way.
P.S. Thanks for recommending FMA 2003, it's good for new fans to watch it.
Riener is super likable He is my favorite character. I love him.
ОтветитьHot take I loveFullmetal alchemist brotherhood and still do but after I watched attack on Titan, it just became kind of forgettable like attack on Titan just does the whole thing, but better
ОтветитьYeah FMAB is better.
ОтветитьIn my eyes the king of shounen will always be dragon ball not because its the best but because it was the most influential.
ОтветитьI like Attack on Titan, especially the 2nd cour of season 1. But your conclusions are reasonable, and I respect it.
ОтветитьFMAB is lightyears ahead of AOT.
ОтветитьFMAB Clears if you ask me, I watched both animes last month, FMAB and then AOT and I just can’t get over just how perfect FMAB truly is.
ОтветитьI forget that AOT is a shonen and put it next to others like One Piece or Dragon Ball. It's as if it's two different completely different genres of work
Ответить
