While grown men in Washington were having a pissing contest over "who gets to be in charge," Americans and other innocent people were dying thanks to the handiwork of OBL. John had done years of work on OBL and his terroristic cohorts, it should have been (John's) to investigate.

Amazing Frontline documentary as usual.  
It seems to me that the two people that have the most blood on their hands and haven't been truly called out and held accountable were Barbara Bodine and Tom Picard by not letting John do his job. Potentially because of Bodine and Picard's ego's and the people that listened to them 2,977 people lost their lives including John along with the countless lives lost during the 20 year war that started as a result, what an absolute disgrace.
Rest in Peace John O'Neil, you were right all along.

Did Osama's people know John was going to take job at WTC well in advance of him getting it and that's when they started the plot to hijacking planes and flying them into WTC to off him for getting involved in trying to take them down in the past??.....If they didnt and found out last minute is it possible for them to have planned the hijacking of planes at the last minute (contrary to what we all believe and what we were told that they planned it years in advance)?

Wow, whata riveting yet sad story. John O'Neill heard the chatter and was piecing it all together and yet this man still coincidentally died in the towers on 9/11. The FBI did him such a tremendous disservice by letting personalities get in the way of the truth. Because if you see past all the beaureaucratic BS and look at the facts, this was going to happen one way or another. We had guys coming and going, and flight training. Feels to me this could have been avoided. RIP Mr. O'Neill.

That was the FBI'S biggest mistake.

PBS Frontline always make amazing documentaries ....alittle confused about this one though - The guy was unfaithful to his wife, he mis used government property to help his mistress, he wore designer suits and shoes that maybe his colleagues thought he could NOT afford on THEIR salaries - Did they think he was funding this high life in an illegal manner ? He took documents out of his office when he should NOT have done so, but to make it worse ...he goes and loses those documents - They send him to Yemen and he throws his weight around to the point that the USA Ambassador has to intervene ....Barry Maan is wrong in thinking a more diplomatic type of person was not required to be sent to Yemen - Thats exactly what they needed to send ...Someone who was aware of the customs in that part of the world ...someone who was familar with the religion ... the language ... the dos and donts of that region - Instead they sent this hot headed Irishman flashing his guns and acting the hard man - Im not surprised his bosses saw through this caveman type of behaviour

Sadly, this show is a great example of why every day Americans do not trust our politicians. So many lives, 3025, lost over political posturing.

From the Challenger disaster to 9/11, it's tragic how many catastrophes are preceded by having everything we need to know in order to prevent it, but petty and mundane things get in the way. In the case of 9/11, it's heartbreaking that from this example all the way up to presidential briefings, the information was right there, waiting to be acted on.

he is a victim of his own superiors...he knew that Bin Laden was a resistance fighter and his superiors needed something like that to rob the Middle East. and he was no longer needed, he was probably killed somewhere else. If he actually died in the tower, that would be an even bigger middle finger from the secret services.

How sad that due to egos a lot of people perished including the main protagonist. I do hope this episode is used to train future potential leaders as an abject lesson in how not to behave in similar circumstances.

What is this garbage. No, 9/11 was not an amalgam of Ramsey Yusef plots. It was a conspiracy, perpetrated by a specific group of people whom had access to the WTC inner core super structure. Most likely agents of the MOSSAD or Israel special forces. Obviously, the conspiracy doesn't end there. It goes much deeper. And the bombing of the WTC in 1993 was also perpetrated in conjunction with the FBI. That's right. The FBI perpetrated the 1993 bombing of the WTC.

So typical for D.C. agencies - Spending money on everything but actually protecting the country. Louis Freeh certainly fell down on the job, choosing to believe foreigners over and above an expert in counter terrorism. Watching the petty behavior of the bureaucrats in the FBI headquarters at John himself speaks volumes about how the ball got dropped and 3,000 people were killed on 9/11, including John himself. One final observation: Ambassador Barbara Bodine should be referred to as Barbara Bovine after her utterly unprofessional conduct - With friend like Barbara, who needs enemies? She was clearly aligned with America's enemies. One can only wonder if John's detractors took great joy in his death, considering how they had done everything they could to eliminate him. It isn't hard to imagine they were glad at his passing. And now this documentary exposes them for the world to see.

He was forced out bc he was ruining the US plans of killing its own citizens

Osama Bin Ladden's driver refuted the claims that Bin laden was involved in 9-11. I find his testimony compelling; he claimed that Sheik Khalid Mohmmad came to the camp and Bin Laden refused to finance or assist in any attack on American citizens on US soil. While Mr. Oneill was an honorable agent his book is used to continue the false narrative. President Bush was given information of an impending attack by use of hijacked planes by numerous sources but chose to ignore it.

Remember a group of Saudi's hijackers were stopped at Logan airport but authorities their weren't allowed to search them. The Saudi government months before 9-11 issued a directive to the US government that no Saudi citizens could be searched by infidels.

Don't forget that on 9/11 the FAA failed to notify NORAD of the 4 Airplanes that had been taken by hijackers and only 2 fighter jets were in air from Otis Airbase AFTER the North tower had been hit! 🤔
PS documents have been seen written by FBI on plans in 1960s planning terrorist strikes on Florida, to kill 00s if not 000s USA citizens with leads to take blame to Cuba, when the US was against Castro. That was stopped by JFK, who then the FBI murdered with Lee Harvey Oswald being the supposed culprit. I have never believed he fired the shot that killed JFK that was an officer either in the car or on the grassy knoll.
