This is a symptom of a real estate market out of control, after those townhoms are built only less then half will be ever occupied.

I would hope they let salvage companies come in to get doors, cabinets or anything else they can salvage.

I love these videos, but on the same token they make me sick. Most people would only dream to live in a house this nice and these people just build them and tear them down or leave them abandoned. It’s so wasteful and unnecessary. There’s too many people who need homes for this amount of waste.

If I’m dropping 14 mil on a mansion I shouldn’t be able to see my neighbors hm whn I look out my window. Homes are nice but they should be sitting on their own piece of land. For that price I would expect total privacy and the option to add a pool or tennis courts if so desired.

These houses aren’t just abandoned. I mean they are but the developers planning to tear them down so you can build a lot of units so he’ll make a lot of money. Wish there was a way to move these houses to another location instead of tearing them down.

So much of this could've been donated to The Restore, or church charities. When I was young, I 'put the line out' to coworkers (I was in carpentry) and when a demolition was going to happen, I and others would look the place over and assess what it would take in resources to get the stuff we liked. All too complicated to discuss here, but to give you an idea, a friend and I have hardwood floors that came from a bowling alley!

When you showed the downstairs area it looked like a basement that had been flooded at one time. That would have caused the black mold that could be seen on the mattress and on the lower parts of the walls. If it is, that may be the real reason that the owners sold and moved out. All so why it is being torn down. Black mold is hard to totally eradicate.

What I find odd is that even abandoned houses don’t usually flood for many years. I was wondering if the flooding was what caused the family to move out. But the one objective for that is why would a developer buy the land…. Unless it was sold for a fraction of what the family paid.

It's a shame the developer didn't take the cupboards, cabinets, stair railings, woodwork, etc., out an re-use them in the townhouses or else give them Habitat for Humanity. They're good quality, great condition and it's such a shame to waste them.

My favorite is the 3rd house you showed. I would love to have a master bedroom/bathroom like that. The kitchen was gorgeous!

What a waste. Surely they salvage some of it. Those staircase spindles, step rails, agelving, fixtures, handles, are reusable and nice.

To be a bedroom it has to gage a closet.
