Can someone explain what he meant about modifying the exe file.

i use the roughrider plugin for equalizer APO, it basically prevents sound from going past a certain level and my ears love it. i used to get jumpscared by gunshots even off in the distance. the baseline sound isnt much louder than before because if it was i would go deaf. if anyone says its cheating they have 2 digit IQ

It just occured to me yesterday that i could route tarkov audio in to fl studio. and if a using a compressor is cheating. than definitely, multiband comressing and eq has gotta be cheating right?

Dude, forget about audio banana or hardware compressors, get Equalizer APO along with a VST plugin compressor(Klanghelm is the best, has a free version called MJUC Jr.), and that's it, you add the compressor to the Equalizer APO configuration.

Ok but how do you work around the loudness equalization making footsteps sound like they are coming from the exact opposite direction that they are coming from? I used to use loudness equalization all the time because movies and tv shows are mixed with whisper quiet dialog and deafening action but in call of duty warzone and tarkov it inverted the direction footsteps were coming from.

everything worked pretty well for me except it told me my computer wasnt compatible with nahimic but i used the sonar on steel series instead will this still work?

Devs just need to make the game look and sound clear and it wont be a problem. People dont feel the need to modify if the same doesn't suffer in those areas. There is a difference between using cheats and just trying to create clarity.

well... you can compress frequencies

compression isn't cheating, it's protecting your damn ears in a game where if you don't have your audio cranked up to unhealthy levels you're at a disadvantage. I'm fairly new but this has been my observation so far as an audio engineer. I've been using an elysia alpha compressor on it's negative settings in tarkov and it's been a life saver.

is there any chance of being banned for using this?

I remember reading that this shit existed like so long ago and I really wanted to set it up so I didn't blow my fucked up ear drums out playing this game.

Thank you, Peggy for making this guide. This makes my life so much easier. I wish they did this shit in game, because the in-game headsets like the Comtacs DO do this so that you can still hear other people talk when you go shooting without blowing an ear drum out.

When I unplug my headset forcing audio to go to a new channel and plug it back in to pull main audio back to the headset while leaving ambient behind on the other channel, is that cheating?

my thing is no ones ears are the same, for example i cant hear certain frequencies due to not taking care of my ears, so adjusting audio so i can hear isnt an advantage its just literally trying to even the playing field.

I used soundlock for a while. I felt like it put me at a disadvantage.

So should I use loudness equalizer + the sound lock or just one of them?

For slow/quiet steps in tarkov wouldn't it make it less audible?

i have a question. why do you use compression? from your description it sounds useless.unless you take sounds that are there but can barley hear and putting them loader then that's 100% cheating. but if its in your headsets software already then to bad its a fair class cheat since its available to everyone.

anyone who has looked at a map? the map you look at is of the game not connected directly to it.

btw, i just wiped my pc and i was having trouble getting the same drivers for my audio etc, as i had before. i was so confused about nahimic and realtek, i knew my motherboard had realtek onboard but i thought nahimic was a different company. seems like it wasnt. random help in a tarkov video!

I say it's cheating. Why? Because you are using external hardware/software to manipulate the ORIGINAL sound file in order to enhance or depress it's quality with one sole objective, to give you an in-game advantage. The motivation is what is important to understand here. The equipment and software used is irrelevant.

The argument that other competitive shooters don't ban audio compression does not apply as much because in Tarkov, sound queues are literally 70% of the game. If you hear your enemy before they hear you, you have a huge advantage. You can set up ambushes, go into stealth etc.

CSGO, R6, League of legends, DOTA 2 etc. these highly competitive games do not rely on audio queues as much as Tarkov. So, the motivation of the players to use audio compression is...well non-existent.

So, look at motivation for a user to use these pieces of equipment/software.

Does he use audio compression in games like R6? What about DOTA 2? if not, why isn't he using it? Most likely because the in-game advantage you get out of doing it is minimal. So they don't.

That is why it's cheating.

your sound compression program does change the sound files.

tarkov has allowed nvidia control pannel stuff and graphics buffering stuff..
getting a program to boost foosteps is literally an unfair advantage and an auxiliary program. whats hard to understand here??
