How to ACTUALLY Get Group Policy Editor in Windows Home Edition (10 & 11)

Hilariously stupid thing is I have windows 11 pro and paid for it I did not come with this and even running the command with administrator just says you do not have the specifications to run local group policy editor and closes

Policy Plus doesn't work- I have blocked Windows Updates in several ways and it still tries to force me to update to Win 11 - pause updates is greyed out. Policy Plus doesn't have any setting for pause updates.

Well I think most want it to turn off Bing or Edge settings.

So i downloaded Policy Plus because "turn off windows hot keys" to disable because i wanted my windows key disabled... well i did the changed and saved on policy plus and reset but still doesnt work... please help.

Yahh, the gpedit tricks never worked for me. Along came policy plus after some manual web scraping and i can now disable removeable disk functionality. The policy plus coder is a real one.

The one and only thing I use group policy for is setting windows update to auto download but promt for install (disable auto install of windows updates) so I can install them when I’m ready. Too many times I went to access my pc remotely and it’s offline installing updates or it’s not logged in. Also I’ve had multi day uploads (my internet upload speed is slow) get stopped by windows updates.

I did not used PlolicyPlus but i had install Policy editor on Home (under VirtualBox on a Windows 10 Home guest) and it did work for all changes i had tried ... but of course i did not yet test it on Windows 11 and neither test all options ... just the ones to pass 100% of a Policy Security Tester made by the Public Administration of the City to what i must connect by VPN to a company that requieres such tests be passed.

I know Home!!😂 first turn your computer as the Admistrator elevated, disable User Account Control and SmartScreen (maybe the whole Windows Defender crap) and then enable GroupPolic... also waasmedic service is responsible for turning shit back to default settings. Find a way to Stop that service for good.

The snag is that even if it does install a group editor, most of the policies don't actually work on Windows Home. The OS will the ignore reg keys regardless! As soon as you upgrade to Pro, the policies suddenly take effect. In the same way that some policies only apply to Education, Enterprise or windows 11 SE.

Would have been incredibly useful back when I was on Windows.

Home editions probably just disable the functionality that gpupdate uses to work so while the policies are set they just aren't properly applied to the user. This is most likely done not to annoy users so gpedit doesn't work but if people manage to force Home onto a domain the group policies will never work properly to stop business from cheeping out on not buying pro.
