The problem is Puerto Rico has a reputation of being so arrogant that many us citizens choose other spanish countries because Puerto Rico has a high cost of living and since Trump Trip, the island was viewed negatively and now Americans are going to dangerous places instead of Puerto Rico, why? Because it's not what folks want, perhaps being part the US, they have the issues that many American cities have, not sure why anyone would go there. The same in Miami, would Americans go to Miami for fun, only College students and idiots, Miami has lost it's innocence and most know that it's one of the most dangerous cities in USA, Puerto Rico same. Too bad, money is not the solution, attitude is, too many bad guys there.

People dont use turn signals in New York either.

1. Rent the smallest car and enjoy the mountains outside most mayor city's because the roads are small. 2. Drive like a local turn signal most of the time will not be used. I live in Philadelphia and still drive like a Puerto Rican lane change no signal most of the time. 3.;Night life is amazing but try to be with a local. Do no say anything disrespectful to anyone or you will get hurt. If you're a bad drunk stay in your hotel bar. If a happy drunk you're safe. 4. Enjoy the food amazing and tasty. Forget fast food. 5. San Juan is good, yeah it’s the capital blah blah blah. But the west side (aguadilla, Isabela, rincon, aguada) that’s where you want to go.

The worst experience ever!!!! We just moved here from NYC December 2019. My husband was born and raised here in PR but I wasn't even though both my parents were. So when we got here I thought I was going to see the puerto rico that my parents spoke about but it was totally opposite. Where we ended up living in the town of Manati, we found our neighbors to be rude and very loud. They had no consideration for their neighbors what so ever. Pot holes everywhere. People here have absolutely no respect for lights. I couldn't count the times we almost got into car accidents due to them not stopping on red. There are homeless people everywhere especially in front of restaurants. You can't walk to your car without getting bombarded by people asking for money. The mosquitoes bit me daily and I caught an allergic reaction. The ants even went into the refrigerator and microwave, toaster...... they are everywhere. We threw out our new furniture of only 3 yrs cuz the ants got to it and ate up the wood. Ashley furniture, which is called Berrios on the Isla, sells bad furniture. I found out through an employee that their stock in actually on a ship in San juan. No wonder the furniture don't last. It's humid and salty there. The blackouts here are weekly. Just after 2 years my stove burned out. When the lights came back on the surge hit my stove strong and made the wires burn out. I complained about it to the light company called, Luma and they literally told me, ah, too bad, theres nothing we can do. I had to buy a camper stove and thats what ive been using since 2021. The owners of the house we rent were mean and treated us like garbage. This is just part of what we've been through. And I'm not even touching how corrupted the political people are. Its pathetic! There's puerto rico for you. Well by the end of this year we are moving back to NY. Honestly, I will miss nothing from this island. I'm glad I'm going back.

Also, the food in San Juan is not as authentic as the food on the rest of the Island. San Juan has been designed to keep tourists in that area, making them believe they had the real deal experience. I highly recommend not staying in San Juan to truly experience what it's like to live on the island, even if you are visiting for a week.
