I moved to Raeford, NC 4 years ago from upstate NY. I love the weather (except summer) and haven't seen snakes. Spiders, yes. My children and grandchildren and great grandchild live here, so I'm stuck. But there are lightly populated places, like there.

I lived in North Carolina for 8 years, 9 months, and 21 days. It was so boring and I never want to live there ever again. Just depressing. The one big annual event in the town where I lived was the Chili Festival. In another town it was the annual sweet potato festival, and yet another the annual strawberry festival.

I talked about how one of the reasons I want to move to North Carolina is better gun laws so I can have guns for self protection from gay bashers and in general, going hunting, and just fun at the range. I've lived in the NC mountains since I was born. There's a night and day difference between the mountain region and the piedmont, sandhills etc. We are 20+ years behind the entire country and I wouldn't have it any other way. Life is slower paced in the mountains and not much traffic, very private in most places. It's a great area for hunting and fishing, camping, kayaking etc.....To be honest, you couldn't pay me enough money to move to Charlotte or Raleigh and that's a fact. I'd rather be here in the mountains. I love it here

I saw your video before moving to CLT, and now that I'm back in the sw I'd like to give you some feedback. Your video was spot on lol. The driving was the worst, car parts everywhere, I saw accidents all the time or I was just arriving to a fresh accident. I was a paranoid driver for a while. I wasn't prepared for the humidity, I flew in, and went for a ride the next morning and saw gas coming up off the street like steam and I thought I was in vietnam. And those copperheads scared me cause at least a rattler will warn you. On the flip side, they're very polite, and I made a lot of genuine friends that enjoyed to socialize and talk to people without the indifference I grew up in. And I took a few souvenirs :) Thanks for the video.

If you are thinking about living anywhere near the coast, I’m talking within an hour drive, research hurricane prep. If all the houses in a neighborhood are built six foot above the ground and someone is trying to sell you a ground level one beside them, they are trying to get you killed. If there is a hurricane coming and the wind is already blowing you are not driving away in time. Most of the people I see injured in the hurricanes were trying to drive away and crashed into a tree or missed a bridge. Black widows like cinder block and camping supplies, copperheads love ferns and pine forests. Pine trees like to fall during hurricanes especially if the ground was already wet. Floodwater loves downed power lines and swarms of fire ants among other things

They can drive backwards in NC it's really GA where they can't drive. In GA you also get bronchitis and ashma once you move there.

I’m originally from NY moved to Florida in the 80s. Everything you’ve stated on this list. Florida is by far worse. I’m considering moving to one of the Carolinas. Nothing on your list is scaring me. Florida has the worst drivers in the US. Nasty people. Worst spiders, bugs, alligators, crocodiles, iguanas (shitting everywhere) and snakes. Flying “roaches too”.
