Do NOT do this hike in Italy | Lago di Sorapis, Dolomites

That's just ridiculous. You get away from the city life to avoid crowds. I would be annoid. Hiking is for peace and quiet. This pandemic has ruined beautiful spots like this

You should start at 8 then its fine. We went in the last week of July and when we reached the lake there were around 20 people. On our way back we took the 216 path, which is more demanding, more beautiful and not crowded.

All the people who live in the dolomites know this... you avoid Lago di Sorapis, Tre Cime di Lavaredo, 5 torri, Lagazuoi, Lago di Braies in july and August... There are plenty, plenty of beautiful hikes that have not been instagrammed like the above, and are therefore empty! It's also not such a tough hike... we've done it with our son when he was 6 months old (obviously carrying him) and now that at 4 he's more than capable to hike up there... Best period to do this hike is during the "indian summer" so September/October.

It's no different in the more popular national parks in the USA. Overcrowding of people on the trails but also SO many cars creating a traffic jam in Glacier when I visited in late August.

Not go on weekends and go early morning, and little lucky you not see many people.

your own ignorant decision to start a hike in a popular place like that at 2 in the afternoon is what caused your problem. Anyone with a bit of common hiking sense especially in such a well known and popular place would know to start the hike as early as possible in the day NOT at 2pm when folks OF COURSE would be heading back to finish their day. I live in Oregon, if I decide to start a hike at 2pm at one of our popular trailheads I can and should expect to encounter a LOT of people coming back "at me" while I'm heading out. Common sense, not a surprise in the least and certainly my own fault not anyone else's.

Dude you're going hiking with sneakers, jeans shorts, polo shirt and a Hugo Boss watch and complain about the dangerous crowd..

Dear, you are totally unprepared for this track of only two-three hours that is not even dangerous. Physically you are not used to walk or climbing. No proper shoes just sneaker not mountain sticks, not shirt supply. Climbing later the day (starting at 1400 😂😂) and then you complain like a child for people who started climbing in the right time. You are the only one scared 😂. Better you stay home instead of giving opinion based on your non experience or take a guide if you don’t feel at ease.

U do the hike at 2pm ? For real ? And then you complain was full. The hike you always start in the morning, 6am the best time. And believe me this is not a dangerous hike at all. The hike is beautiful but when u do such a things must plan accordingly. Is like you would say " oh I went Greece and was so busy in MIDDLE of August "

When did you go on that hike, month?

We went early may no crowds but ran into snow towards the end and couldn't make it to the lake. Was still a really fun hike.

It's at the same time one of the easiest treks in the area and perhaps one of the most amazing place in the Dolomites.
Please just go off season, avoid summer weekends and holidays. Please respect the lake and the route.

I was here two weeks ago (I also have a video about it) it was a lot calmer at the end of September and the weather was exceptional for the mountains. Probably worth it to go a bit off season.

This is not the way to go up the mountain, you walk too fast. You have to avoid the months of July and August, for several years it has been too crowded and dangerous. There is another path to climb to Sorapis, much quieter.

I had the same disappointing experience because of the crowded path and the disturbing noise caused by people who don't really feel the mountain;I think "regione Veneto" should take measures to solve this problem!

You don't go to the mountains in the afternoon, those people were returning and therefore certainly after 14.00. In order not to meet all those people, those who go to the mountains do not leave early in the morning and return early. You can avoid the month of August or Sundays, not always there are all those people, otherwise you take the path 213 and then the 216 passing through the Marcuoira fork. and it is also more rewarding and with fewer people.

Interesting and spectacular in places but I wish we'd seen more of the scenery and less of you talking to camera.

This happened to me in 2019. I was on a trek from Munich to Venice and was hiking up out of Alleghe towards Lago Coldai. There was a school group with about 50-75 older teenagers at the lake and going up to the Rifugio Tissi. They were having a good time, they weren't out of control, and they were respectful of everyone else around them. It wasn't as bad as in this video but I can feel your frustration with the amount of people.

I do not know where you hiked in the past, but at very famous trails you should get up very early, so there is not so much crowded, of course, if you prefer to sleep in the morning then you can not expect anything else. In addition, it is Lago di Sorapiss not Sorapis !!! And the hike is recommended even for small children starting from 6-8 years. And the hike is easy going.

So wait, you go up in the afternoon when most people come back, you go on a holiday day, and then you sound so negative and keep saying how the hike is so hard when it doesn’t seem like that to me…maybe you were a bit out of shape? You should know before even going that you should not get into any Alpine lake, can you imagine if all those people dipped in the lake it would not not be blue anymore…

I’m going to attempt do this in September

We wanted to go two weeks ago but decide to avoid the lake since there are some dangerous points on the track and there were too many people going in the middle of summer. Dolomites are now suffering from over-tourism too.

There are son many places in the Dolomites far more beautiful, but somehow this has become one of the most famous and crowded, alongside Braies Lake and 3 Cime di Lavaredo.
I will never go there in the summer!

How about pointing the camera outward instead of inward more? Hate to break it to you, but we're watching to see the views, not you.

The best hours to go there is between 4 and 9AM, to avoid the uprepared, stupid and slow peoples...
