what a great video! another tip - I also land up saving up on unnecessary expenses like atm fees etc abroad - using apps like ATM Fee Saver - it helps find atms abroad with no fees or lower fees than others along with withdrawal limits etc. worth adding to your list of tricks!
ОтветитьI've hid money in a UNUSED pad
ОтветитьRemind travelers o/70 in Hawaii, not required to remove shoes
ОтветитьMy first time ever flying in December excited but also anxious 😊
ОтветитьYou can also use makeup remover wipes instead of liquid makeup remover and cotton balls.😊🎉😂❤
ОтветитьOh my word! Brilliant! Love the pants hotel hanger with clips use to hold the curtain closed.
ОтветитьI use small prescription bottles with labels removed for numerous items,lotion,shampoo,qtips..
Thank you for all your great tips..couldn't find where to buy your personal item backpack or sling bag
I love all your videos so informative
ОтветитьUsing a d link can be a no no - I had a largish one holding mine and hubbys liquid and meds bag together and was told to put it away as could be used like knuckle duster 😮
ОтветитьI looked on the Tsa website but could not find this: im traveling for a race. Can I bring my massage gun on my carryon or purse? Im not checking a bag. Thanks. Keep up the good work. You are fantastic.
ОтветитьGreat travel hacks as usual. I’ve used lots of these all the yrs I’ve stayed at hotels. I take a piece of tissue and put in the peephole for safety and one of the desk chairs under the doorknob when traveling alone. It’ll def wake you up if someone is trying to get in.😂😎💥
ОтветитьI use thick red yarn ribbon tied on my suitcase handle and bright yellow name tag
ОтветитьDon’t renew your drivers license to close to flying! I wanted to have the license with the star for our last flight and I only had the paper one they give you temporarily. And I did not take my old one. I got taken out of line and frisked! I’m 67 years old and not a threat! The TSA agent was so kind to me, but had to follow protocol. She said I could do it in a private room, but it wasn’t like I had to strip!
ОтветитьLaurie your hacks are so useful! Thank you for sharing them!
ОтветитьI take a quarter e
Empty zip lock for pocket items like a tissue s and watches and belts. We use the bath room and get everything ready b4 we go thru security. Then after security we put our watches keys and belts back where they belong.
LOVE the hacks for actually being on the plane. We need so much onboard with us these days (it’s either not provided or the attendants are otherwise busy with increasing work) all help is appreciated.
Lol about the salad dressing opening. A couple times when I packed super minimal, I had coffee and other drinks spilled on me. But just never thought about turning the container around. Duh!!
I like to take a pouch with folding travel hangers and some clothes pins. That way I can hang clothes up to get wrinkles out. I also include some over door hooks to hang clothes, towels, shower cap or whatever I need. They’ve been invaluable to me.
ОтветитьI use a small stuff sack (camping dry bag) and pack my winter puff jacket. It compresses down to the size of a football and makes a great pillow or lumbar support. I also put a shopping bag around my backpack before stowing in on the floor under the seat in front of me.
ОтветитьSleeping mask take care of lights
ОтветитьI always pack a night light to use in the bathroom at night. Some hotel rooms the light and fan are on one switch in the bathroom. This way if I do have to get up at night I can see my way around an unfamiliar room.
ОтветитьEnjoyed the story of your husband not changing out his undershirt during flights! Geez, the commercial pilots look so well groomed and tidy while working. Now the image is ruined!😮😢😢😂 Thanks for all the helpful hints!
ОтветитьI filled a “go tube “container to the top and it expanded and leaked while in flight. Now I make sure to leave space for expansion.
ОтветитьGreat tips! Happy trip!!
Ответить👏 REUSE AMAZON CLOTHING BAGS , BREAD BAGS, newspaper 📰 bags produce bags!!! RECYCLING is not as effective as we imagine so REUSE ♻️ buy less plastic reuse packaging and popcorn and boxes etc ...and stop buying BACKACHE TIDe HUMONGOUS bottles that rarely get recycled ♻️ 😒 LAUNDRY SHEETS TRAVEL WELL !
ОтветитьVery helpful tips. Thank you!! 👍🏼
ОтветитьO
love, love your hacks! Thanks for sharing💖
I suppose this may help some people, but overall this are terrible hacks! The amount of plastic and waste she produces on each trip!! And how come being a pilot he got his shirt stained!!?? Oh after 1000's of flying hours I just discovered the difference in pressure... 🤌
ОтветитьI use the gum containers to put my tea bags, sugar packets, salt packets, drink powder packets in to add to water. Then I put it in my purse. I also use them to keep track of the insurance card and other important small papers for the car in the glove box.
ОтветитьNow everybody knows where to look for the hidden cash!😅
ОтветитьThanks For Always Sharing Unique Travel Hacks . 😮😊
ОтветитьWeird travel hack if you love scrunchies (I’m from the 80s growing up really in the 90s, I never go anywhere without a scrunchie now!) but they make pocket scrunchies now!! You can hold your cash, credit cards, and a few small things in them, you’d never even notice there was something in them!!
ОтветитьAdding to the cotton balls for eye makeup remover, I was thinking how I could use this hack for nail polish remover…soak the cotton balls in the polish remover then placing them in an airtight container…Will have to try this before my next flight! Thanks for the tip!
ОтветитьI always pack a bandana or two, depending how long i will be away, because it is cheap, easy to get or replace at a dollar store, and has multiple uses:
-tie it around the handle of your luggage or backpack as an identifier. You can even use it to tether other items to the bag.
-tie the ends together and you have a small bag - great for coralling a bunch of loose items.
- use as a mini tablecloth, as a napkin, or to dry your hands if no towel available. It is super easy to wash and dry later.
-wet it with cold water and place around your neck, temples or even wrist (pulse points) to help you cool off on a hot day. Or use warm or hot water if heat is what you need, say for an injury.
-tie each corner in a knot to make a makeshift hat. May not be fashionable, but would do in a pinch if a head covering is required or just to keep the sun off your head.
I also never travel without a merino wool top, wool socks or footlets, and a thin/lightweight wool or wool blend pashmina that scrunches up small. Nothing keeps me as cozy as merino wool, as it regulates body temperature, is warm even when wet, and does not get smelly. ( Mind you, I don't travel to tropical locations where i might not need the wool to keep me warm.)
Also, re the hot curling iron, i think a wool sock or piece of wool felt is a better option, as wool will not melt or scorch. In fact, wool can suppress flame.
After watching yout travel videos I have packed for 2 international trips for 18-30 days in a carry-on. It is a black hard-side so I bought a cute black and white duck tape and put strips the entire length on front, back, and sides. Not another suitcase like it, easy to identify. I checked it coming home and on my recent trip I checked it because I had an underseater and Vera Bradly bag for carry on and personal. The Vera Bradley has the sleeve to slide over my rolling underseater so easy to maneuver with the 3 pieces.
ОтветитьWhy are you guys in the US wrapping newspapers in plastic? This so environmentally wrong
ОтветитьWashi tape! Awesome idea!
ОтветитьHo Laurie I'm short and the back of my legs get tired on flights . I use my neck pillow as a seat cushion and it makes my flight more comfortable
ОтветитьI use ziplock bags as compressioncubes. Put clothes in the bag and zip it allmost closed. Then sit on it and let all the air out and zip the last bit.
ОтветитьAny recommendations for earplugs to use on airplanes?
ОтветитьWhere can I buy the clear bag with the snap hook?
ОтветитьLaurie, you are not only helpful but you are fun to watch!
ОтветитьI take one roll of garbage bags, small ones 1-2 litres, handy any time; when carryon luggage I buy cheap small bottles of shower gels, shampoos, from the travel destination. I also have tiny tubes of toothpastes, that last for one week.
ОтветитьFor every trip i make a simple second luggage tag. A small simple typed-up page with my name, email, and the dates of my trip and where we are staying. Keep it small, usually about 1 inch by 2 inches. And i "laminate" it with simple clear packing tape. Punch a hole and attach it with a ziptie. If your luggage goes astray somewhere, and they need to forward it, the info is on the bag. (I only pack carry-on, but on a busy flight, it can still get gate checked.)
ОтветитьEmpty prescription bottles are great for lotions, pills, hair ties, etc.
ОтветитьHi love the tips you give us. In one of short videos you show up a reversible jacket that you will hang around your back. Can you please let us know where you got it.
Thank you!
PG
Travel hacks are so much fun. I appreciate your videos and your enthusiasm. :) If i'm going to stay in a rental house, I usually travel with a little mesh zipper pouch I call my "tinker bag." I put in a tiny roll of duct tape, a couple of small binder clips, some big safety pins, a small sewing kit, a little multitool with a tiny screwdriver (without a knife), a mini sharpie, some twist ties, some small zip ties, a couple of silicone rubber bands, a small pair of scissors, etc. I can't tell you how many times I've needed a screwdriver, or to fasten something to something else temporarily, and the kit fits in the smallest of the "Travelon" mesh pouches. Never had a problem getting it through TSA.
ОтветитьID EVERTHING with name-address labels inside and outside every bag
ОтветитьI squirt toner on a pile of cotton rounds which go in a small round container or baggie.
ОтветитьI rinse my curling iron under cold water. I've done this for years.
