I cancelled the additional paid channel subscriptions I had through prime video. I'm not sure if I'll cancel prime altogether. I don't know what the arrangement is with other channels(History, Starz, Paramount+ etc...) but I imagine those partners won't be very happy if people just start dropping those in droves. I absolutely despise ads and it's even more insulting considering these streaming services came about off the back of cutting the cord and commercial free content.

A couple of thoughts here, firstly I thought the whole point of paid service was to avoid adverts. It was a simple proposition ..get it for free and they make money on adverts or pay for access for an advert-free experience. I would have had a lot more respect for Amazon if they offered half-price membership with adverts but the idea of reducing the membership pricing would be an anathema wouldn't it?

If they are going to try to squeeze members like this then I think I might just go back to FrostWire and a VPN for my content.

First prime made it so you could not buy or rent movies without a subscription.
That was a bust.
Then they made free shipping from non prime members from purchase $25+ to 35+
Now there being stupid with ads they get paid for in the first place and charge people $3 to get rid of them. That tells me there holding videos RANSOM and we are the dum SOB's that fall for it.

It's a creep issue. They take an inch and never stop taking more and more and offering less and less for more of your $$$. Prime has already turned into a boondoggle - one day turned to two day that now is so unreliable Prime shipping is more of a wish it get's here when expected issue, than a promise you paid special for. Dump Prime shipping. It's trash now. As is Prime Video.

We left cable for streaming to save $$$, ease of access to endless content old or new, and NO ADS. Streaming has become what we purposely left behind. Do not minimize what they've done to you.

Do not participate folks. These companies rely on you being unwillingness to go through withdraw.

I really don't have a problem with this, as Prime videos generally SUCK and I rarely watch one. So no big deal for me.

The point is that to buy on Amazon you don't need to have Prime. Prime only serves to receive your products faster, which is not a really necessary added value when you shop on Amazon an average of 10 times a year or less. The only reason I had been paying for Prime for 4 years was because of Amazon Videos, and I really wasn't very satisfied with the service either. Amazon Video has a lot of content to buy or rent that is not included in the membership, in addition to links to other platforms that are also paid or free with Adds. I always thought this policy was predatory, but I tolerated it because from time to time I enjoyed a show or movie here and there. But now we also have to endure commercials in the already little content that the platform offers for a super overpriced membership. It is a clear no to me. I canceled yesterday. I'm done with Prime. I have no intention of paying to watch commercials. I don't even see them on free platforms, much less will I see them if I'm paying.

Also they quit supporting independent content creators "Prime Video does not accept user-generated content, or other types of video that aren't normally considered feature-length movies or TV shows. "

Now, that Amazon is putting ads before, during and after Prime Videos, it's time to cancel. Next, may be Netflix due to their crappy selections and dependence on Bollywood content.

Nothing but a pure evil greed move. A company worth over 2 trillion that pays very little corporate company taxes. Been a Prime member for 17 years. Finally cancelled today Jan 30, 2024 after I got the ads notification while watching prime video and do I "Want to pay an additional $36 a year?" notification to not see commercials. This broke the straw on the camels back. They are high as a kite. I been watching the prime yearly fee go up for years. I remember when it was $60 a year, Now $140. I liked that they had a lot of obscure and weird and very old ad free video content to watch you cannot find anywhere else on top of all the new movies I like so I kept my membership. Then they got rid of that a couple years ago and moved all the old stuff to their "Freevee" part of prime video where you have to watch ads to see it. Now in 2024, they want to put ad's on everything Prime video??!!?!?!

We all jumped on board back in the day and were sucked in with their low low prices on items and books. We all quit shopping retail in our home areas and watched how many businesses and chains close because of Amazon. And what did they do. They have been steadily increasing prices now that they don't have not much competition left. I routinely find items I want to buy same price or cheaper on other websites and quit assuming Amazon always has the lowest price. I only been buying 4-5 things a month with my membership lately and been trying to give business to other companies beside Amazon. You do not even need a Prime membership to get free delivery on Amazon as long as you have $25 in purchases minimum on the order to get it delivered free and can wait a few days. I can and am and will try more than ever now to find things I need on other websites. Please everyone, show them who's boss. CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIPS. Goodbye Amazon. I hope you go down in flames and regret all the business's you killed in my city.

That was literally the sequence. We all navigated to the prime icon deep in the page specifically to navigate ads. Why would they do this aside money? They have to be desperate. They know good and well customers do not like ads.

Yep, just cancelled. I had no idea this was going to be the case until I got notified just now. I still don't understand who would actually be influenced by an interruption to a video by a company pushing a product or service that I never asked for. I already pay for Prime and it's a slap in the face.

Amazon offers nothing anymore. Everything I want to see has a rent or buy price even if it's just a dollar. When I add up shipping costs they don't equal what I pay for free shipping. They started chargin me for th music in my library I put there when it was free. I gotsa feelin their gonna get crazy into sports esp since th Bally's debacle last yr. I went a yr w/out seein my favorite team unless I went to a sports bar maybe 25 times last season. That was good enough. It was more fun and special... and I can do that agn.

I'm just tired of them being th subtle nickel and dime ya to death cult leader that we all just follow bc it's too much work to break th relatnshp. I resent them so much now I'm willing to do a little more work to find th deals and enjoy what's on my screen vs give them another penny.

The reason why we don't have a TV antenna or cable at my house is because the advertising companies even on network TV or run by such degenerates that their TV ads aren't safe for kids

already cancelled my amazon prime account, might have watched Prime videos a time or two over the year, and noticed more and more two day delivery turns into a week or so, if they drop off to the US postal system add at least another week, good chance of the package being lost or damaged.

I hooked up a mini pc to my TV as I couldn't stand all the ads on android tv. I watch everything through Firefox/Chrome with adblocking. Works perfectly and is the way to go.

Everyone went to streaming TV because it has no ads no commercials they cancel cable and went to streaming TV.

I'm all for ads if it's free they've got to pay for it some way but if I'm pan out of my pocket I don't want to see ads if I'm paying for streaming TV and I received commercials why don't I just go back to cable it's cheaper. 😮
