Wow, looks like Sanrenmu nailed the heat treat on these, I got a 910 and 912 and am amazed at the quality for being under $17 each when I picked them up.

I didn't see you stropping, and if that is the case then that is why you had such good results here. Edge retention cutting rope is highly dependent on apex finish. A toothy edge will cut vastly more rope than a polished one. Sharpen using only a coarse stone and you can make over 1000 cuts with these knives and this rope.

Try this and you will see that Pete's testing is fundamentally flawed.
