INXS - The Stairs

This song just came back to me outta nowhere after not hearing it for some months or even years. I can't believe how it disappeared out of my memory for that long, it's such a strong song.

IAM Aussie and this is by far one of the best tracks ever I was finishing my last year of graded 10 1990 at Cook town High school I bought the audio tape INXS X I believe this album and four years before the kick album are by far Michael and INXS best two albums ever .it was the major international break thru for our Aussie band INXS global presence

It is a wonderful song very heavily influenced by Exile's "Kiss You All Over" which was a huge hit in Australia in the 1970s when Andrew and Michael were just starting to get their act together.

Kewl for sure that's what I want to know. A zillion versions exist in my head, I want to know the og one. Whatever that means accepting. It's the flow of personal info that makes me uncomfortable. I feel sans choice sometimes.

I wonder if INXS realise how epic this 'album track' is?

This song came late in INXS's career when a lot of (U.S.) fans were moving on to other sounds. If it had come out a couple of years earlier it would have been a huge hit. It probably has the best-written lyrics of any of their songs and it sounds incredible.

Very appealing crescendo. Lifting up as the stairs. M. H. singing about himself. "Climbing ourselves as we fall."

Not only INXS's best song, but holds up so well today would consider one of the greatest songs of the last 50 years. Too bad it never got the recognition it deserves.

My friends didn't understand, we were all listening to Blood Sugar Sex Magik while going down to the shore every weekend....but this was my go to...... incredible and profound...

Amen, what a wonderfully blessed lyrical songwriter. All of INXS are superb. For a long time I tried to hide this song from everyone, I wanted it to be for me and me alone. It will be my funeral song.
