Actually it is very easy to fudge revenue numbers and many companies have got in trouble for doing so. It usually happens by recognizing revenue all up front instead of over the life of the product or service. For example if I sell you a subscription service and you paid annually to qualify for discounts, then the company is required to book 1/12th of that Annual payment each month as revenue and not the full amount in the first month. I would also add that using the PS ratio with cyclical stocks may cause you to miss opportunities especially oil and gas companies because revenue can be very volatile. And high growth companies approaching their peak growth or growth slowing should naturally see lower PS ratios over time. Context is everything.

My advice to new investors: Buy good companies stocks and hold them as long as they are good companies. Just do this and ignore the forecasts and market views which are at best entertaining but completely useless.

Opened starter position in BABA in March and added more early April. AGREE on MPW, that recent Utah announcement basically adds to the debt payoff substantially.
