Chernobylite Review: Expect Nothing

Is unobtainium hard to obtain?

I did not like Chernobylite. The story really fell apart for me. Characters were saying shit that I didn’t choose.
It’s goofy to have the ability to even choose anything in this game. I ended up just picking things that would keep them in the party and mostly happy. Also, the fake controversy between choices. There were some decisions between what party members wanted that were so contrived and forced it took me right out of the game. It was all fake controversy. It just sucked. I wanted a stalker game. This is a long, boring, useless dialogue filled, errand running, terrible annoying fiancé chasing motivation game.
I don’t hate a lot of games. This one wasted my time though.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth had an excellent sanity mechanic. Blurry screen, heavy breathing, head bobbing, audio and visual hallucinations. The whole nine yards.

played 101 mins and didn't touched it ever. In a month, it'll be a year since the last time i played. Very fucking boring is what i got from it

Love the Plinkett style comedy.

this game missed out so much potential from interior design...
I forgot which STALKER game it was where you had a team go down with you underground....
Goddamn if only they did that for this game, level of tension and all.

i would like to point out that the resource management of the game is by far the easiest part of it since you can make some tiny gardens that'll produce a truck load of food so you don't even have to ration anything. and there's a particular crafting bench that lets you make Chernobylite using nothing but mushrooms that are about as common as a bad smell near a skunk. not only that but the crafting benches let you make lots of ammo too out of resources that are found basically everywhere.

I enjoyed this game quite a bit myself. Honestly just thought it was too short. I wouldn't mind if I made a better updated version with AAA standards. Games like this have a great replayability. I would just like to see a decently bigger version with the same detail density that's already there. The world's look great and leveling up is fun, but building the base is one of the coolest features. Just with every item having significant importance to your survival.

If you want to play almost Stalker in vr then go play Into the Radius.

Honestly, one of Chernobylite's greatest appeals is its Mystery, intrigue, characters and branching choices. Where you think there's a bit of an illusion, but in actuality, the smallest detail can come back to bite you. Its one of the few games that makes me feel genuinely bad about killing someone.

One of my favorite moments came from when one of the soldiers saw his buddy lying dead on the ground, he said "Hey, Alexsi, why are you sleeping?" before realizing that he was dead. The game does a great job of humanizing the NAR as more then just NPC's that arbitrarily accost you.

Chernoblite be like: Hey, remember that guy you shot a few hours back you forgot about? Well here's his wife.

Me: SHIIET!

It really makes you regret some of your bad choices and that only sometimes you can go back and fix them, or start over and try again.

Green Hell has a nice sanity mechanic, that about made me shit while playing.

That original sonic character bit was golden.

You're so off about demon/dark souls lol. It's masochistic difficulty is what provides the player with the sensation of victory not found in the majority of modern titles at the time. Difficulty had everything to do with its success. Hence why they've kept it ever since even for other IPs like Bloodborne and Elden Ring lol. Demon Souls wasn't even initially released in the west due to it's difficulty. That should tell you everything.

Well crap should of watched this video before buying it.. but to be fair I never heard of the game Stalker well until now.. so basically I have no idea what to expect..
