Fish need water too !! - Cape Town's drought and the Giant Redfin minnow - Real Wild Ep 10

Cape Town has been in trapped in a drought, we went to explore the upper reaches of the rivers around Cape Town, to see the drought effects on the cities biggest reservoir and see if the endangers Redfin minnows were surviving. These fish face extinction from alien fish, habitat loss and now possible face a drought problem !

I was joined by Mike Korostelev (http://mkorostelev.com/), Dani Davenport (https://www.danielledavenport.co.za/) to film and spend the day exploring the area.

Dr Jeremy Sheldon and PHd candidate Jody-Lee Reizenberg, lead us into the world of the Giant Redfin minnow and the capes magical river system.

Jeremy is a researcher, and Jody a PhD student, at the Freshwater Research Centre (httsp://www.frcsa.org.za) - a Cape Town-based nonprofit that runs scientific research projects to understand changes in aquatic ecosystems and thereby support freshwater decision-making in southern Africa.
