I knew from watching Terrified that this director would show uncomfortable scenes and keep it there.
Great horror director.
The woman didnt say he has a broken brain, she said he had a complicated one. He was far less susceptible to the demon because it was having trouble unravelling him
ОтветитьThe dog scene and the mother and son scene was straight up mess up.
ОтветитьI actually think it might be worth a rewatch for you because I got an entirely different impression of how they viewed autism. Actually they were saying because of the complicated way the autistic mind works it took the demons a long time to figure out how to possess the autistic person. "Regular" folks like myself, we got completely taken over in seconds flat.
ОтветитьOmg, frustrating from beginning to end.. looking back may be that was the directors intentions?😅the pace of the movie was so fast without giving away much of anything, and so many what the hek?? YOU IDIOT!!🤦moments. Oddly enough I was kinda happy the demon won😅
ОтветитьI really wanted to like ths movie, but who can deny that the ending of this movie felt really low budget and cheesy! I loved certain scenes about the movie however it just felt super rmessy and jumbled!
ОтветитьCalm down man it wasn’t that gory 😂 it was boring stop being a poser n follower
ОтветитьI didn't realize demons were supposed to be the experts on autism 🤔
Besides all that, i just really didn't enjoy this movie. Over hyped in my opinion. Not scary at all and the gore isnt anything to make you squirm. Maybe I've already seen too much and have become desensitized in my favorite genre. Its almost as if most horror movies are funny and most comedies are scary AF 😅 That being said, whatever floats your boat i guess. This movie was simply meh 😕 for me.
I liked this movie but the main characters flaws hampered the film. It obviously had great visuals but his decisions were just stupid. At the school when the former “cleaner” told him not to believe the girl who was telling him the axe was in the office, but he immediately goes there and realizes he’s been tricked, I mean come on. It was an easy way out at a pivoted point in the movie. If the script were a little smarter the film could have been so, so good.
ОтветитьI disagree with the statement on lack of character development.. I thought it came gradually throughout the journey and just enough to learn about our two protagonists really. Enough that we cared you know? We didn't need too much exposition - but we got just enough in my eyes. This for me is best horror of the year - right next to Talk To Me.
Ответитьyou don't get it. first, you got lost in translation, the autistic is the OPPOSITE of what you say. You clearly don't understand horror genre, and must have everything explained. This movie is so refreshing in the genre. Your review really sucks.
ОтветитьThis movie looks good and is gory but I can't handle dumb characters (especially those who gets innocent people killed). This movie is a bit overrated and maybe has the dumbest characters on film.
ОтветитьI understood the film to be saying that his autism made it harder to be possessed because the demon couldn't figure out his brain as quickly. He was still not possessed the night that sabrina walked to the country house and got santino because jair sees her and is responding in a very scared way so this was a very delayed possession. We know there is something attached because the demon cleaner woman says hes looks rotten and the brother assumes shes insulting Jair's autism but she clarifies that shes not. All in all, i was vigilant about any problematic autism storylines but i didnt really see anything that didnt get explained away. I feel they took care with such a touchy storyline
ОтветитьSPOILERS
When Jair glances sideways at the end and makes eye contact, i was shook. That was so petrifying, more so even than when he walked around asking his grandma to make hot drink. The gleefulness that evil takes in seeing the results of their deeds makes my stomach turn. This director is so creative and unique in his ability to make unforgettable moments in his films. I cant wait to see more of what he does
It just doesn't let up and gets more horrific and with many crazy decisions by the main guy.
Ответитьgod, this review is awful
Also, how tf did you not understand the narrative around the autistic kid? Jesus...
Well…this was just messed up.
ОтветитьMy favorite over-the-top, brutally violent/gory is definitely the 2013 remake of Evil Dead. As a seasoned horror fan, I've got a pretty strong stomach for gore but that one still makes me squirm in my seat!
ОтветитьFinally a director with some balls unapologetically brutal and he uses shock instead of jump scares best horror movie of the year
ОтветитьMovie was great your review was ass
ОтветитьIt doesn't says that autistic people have a broken brain, it says that the demon within can't figure out the autistic brain. This is one of the best horror movies I've ever watched.
ОтветитьInteresting 🤔, so like the REC series with the viral possession but in a farm town in Argentina.... SIGN ME THE FUCK UP
ОтветитьI disagree sbout the son with Autism. Their brains work "different", not worse or less than, than "normal" brain function, and the rotten hasn't figured out how to control it. The evil still hasn't cracked the code, just like us.
ОтветитьAaaaand agreed w maybe 15% of what u said here. This movie was phenomenal... the rule breaking and characters slow movements to stop certain scenes of carnage was beyond annoying tho.
ОтветитьWithout a single jumpscare, this horror movie kept me pinned to my seat
ОтветитьWhen the brother pulled up to the exwife in his car.... omfg
ОтветитьSomething tells me I enjoyed this movie a lot more than you might have because of the language barrier. I wasnt paying attention to the subtitles, because luckily I dont need them, but they usually suck and a lot can be lost in translation. Specially the part about the autistic boy. Don't know what the subtitles said, but that's not what she said about him. Like another commenter said, she explains how when the demon enters the autistic mind, it cant figure it out, so it takes a lot longer for the autistic person to "become" possessed. I thought it was a very interesting take.
ОтветитьDamian Runga directed Atterados (Terrified), my favorite horror movie of the last 10 years. I’m really looking forward to seeing this!!!
ОтветитьThis story was disturbingly good
ОтветитьThe autism plot point, while problematic, seems fitting to the setting of the movie, we are talking about an insulated rural community somewhere in Argentina, where people tend to be very superstitious and to a point ignorant or even bigoted (and I say such from experience, as someone currently living and raised in a small town somewhere in inner Argentina)
ОтветитьWow It just won best movie at Stiges.
ОтветитьPerfect review! I felt the same and gave it 3.5 stars and recommend it as a one-time watch. A Spanish speaking reviewer commented that something was lost in translation for English-speaking audiences relying on the subtitles. That may be somewhat true. But that still doesn't make up for some of the inconsistencies mentioned in this video.
ОтветитьI believe it was quite the opposite with the autistic son. He wasn't more susceptible to possession. I believe they explained the demon didn't understand his brain so it took longer to possess him. And SPOILERS that's also why I believe the demon didn't know it was giving itself away when the son started walking and speaking normally to the grandma once it did get a hold of him
ОтветитьThis movie was a mixture of The Wailing & The Dark And The Wicked but more fast paced & more shock value than the two.
ОтветитьI really enjoyed the film.
Ответитьbest horror film of the year hands down.
ОтветитьMy favorite gory movies are the Saw movies, Bone Tomahawk/ Brawl/ Dragged Across Concrete, Terrifier 2, Passion of the Christ, Puppet Master movies, most classic slashers, Etc lol
ОтветитьGood review. First person ive seen who didnt just blindly hype it. It was... Pretty good. I feel "THE WAILING" did a similar concept way earlier and way better. And as a dude with some potential slight Asperger's (getting to the bottom of that now), I thought the whole autism thing was so stupid and pointless
ОтветитьSo I'm definitely guilty of tilting a bag of snacks at an angle to lessen the effort to grab and eat... going to rethink doing that in the future...
ОтветитьI saw this pop up in the thearter near me with no idea of what it is and alright you convinced me ima go see it this week
ОтветитьI kept think the brothers were Mario and Luigi, cuz the main brother was wearing a red hoody and the other brother was taller and had a mustache
ОтветитьI thought you might give it a higher rating for what is set out to do. Heard amazing things about the visuals. Not a horror person, but tempted. But I also want to see uplifting movie and this doesn't sound like it...😂😂😂
ОтветитьBeter than talk to me?
Ответить"Evil likes children and children like evil" Reminds me of that 80s song Los Niños del Parque by Liasons Dangereuses.
ОтветитьI was deep cleaning one movie that this was playing i wasn't expecting the liite girl getting killed by the dog was unexpected to me and my co worker
ОтветитьImagine being the best horror movie of 2023 and not be seen by many because your not the exorcist sequel
ОтветитьI saw this last night without really knowing anything about it going in and loved it. I recommend everyone try to see this in a theater if you can.
ОтветитьHated the film (too many cliches) btw where did you get your spectacle frames?
Ответитьhands down the best horror movie of 2023
ОтветитьWhat I mainly liked about this film was that it's the character's complacency and stubborn preference which ruin them. They are so sure it can't hurt if THEY do the thing, just this once.
Not using electric lights is the first rule on this list. But reaching for the flashlight, or flicking the headlights on, or sitting in the room with all the houselights blazing are such comforting, habitual things they WANT to indulge in, that they constantly break this rule and try to justify it.
The grandma doesn't take the rules seriously and mentions all the demon names, thinking it's totally fine, just this once won't hurt. Surely they didn't mean this situation? And then doesn't make the leap that she probably just got her oldest grandson possessed, like an idiot who thought going to a party just once can't hurt, and then killed a relative by giving them Covid.
They WANT to punch the possessed, they WANT to kill them. It would be so easy and feel so good. Staying calm and doing no harm would ensure their safety, but they use their repulsion to justify it as just this one time, it'll be fine.
