Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GDDR6 vs. GDDR5

The only diff. is I have mine overclocked. I feel like he should've tested overclocked as well.

And now, two years later, the 1650 is the most popular GPU on Steam 🙂.

The mass sell off of SFF and even towers by the business sector has made this card a huge windfall for the budget minded, unless you are ok w/ a used a2000 6G

Comparing msrp doesn't really work here I my market when the 1650 super is almost $100 more than the 1650 gddr6

On desktops the 1650 was crap. On laptops it fared a lot better. It didn't cost more than 1050 laptops and provided a nice performance boost. Though the 50w did feel a bit limiting for it. The gtx 1650 gddr5 on laptops had more cuda cores than the desktop version and clocked nearly as much as the desktop gtx 1650. So it was actually quite close to a 3gb 1060 desktop. And the gtx 1650 gddr6 on laptops reduces the cuda cores to 896 from 1024 of the gddr5 version but still had a overall performance uplift due to much faster memory.

If nvidia at launch released the full tu117 die with 1024 cuda cores and gddr6, the gtx 1650 would've matched a rx570, at just 75w. It would've definitely made more sense than a rx570 in those cases.

I love my 1650 with GDDR6 it is more than enough for me and also modern games are running smoothly with medium details. Still would love to see something better with more ram

If this was priced like the 1050, it'd be an intriguing product, but at $149 it's horrible value.

GDDR6 is 7% faster than GDDR5

Well, unless a person has serious coin these days, these budget cards are what is available for a reasonable price. Due to other rising costs, and the general scarcity of anything decent, I've been sort of forced to buy a 1650 (though I did get an OC version made by ASUS). I've ordered one because my RX470 (in my older system) is dying (screen just blanks out randomly and stays that way until a reboot), and I'm simply not willing to take a chance on being scammed with a used card.

The only way this card makes sense is the LP model for tiny cases, and shamefully still it hasn't been made a new 75W model. For gaming it's bad, but it has value for productivity, inside tiny cases. I'm thinking about it for a modded case. The bad thing is that GDDR6 raised power consumption and the 9W of possible overclock probably make the GDDR6 worse.

Here in UK could not find 1650 Super, but did get a GDDR6 1650 at £200 for a budget build. The next cheapest card (1660) was over £100 more. I would have preferred something like a 2060, or 3050, but they are stupid prices for what they are. I would rather wait until some sense returns to GPU pricing. As an aside, I did manage to get an RX 6800XT, about 9 months ago, for under £900 for my own PC. Still a shocking price compared to pre-plandemic, but a lot better than paying stupid Nvidia prices (very pleased with the performance).

Oh gosh what is this graph? The 1050 Ti I know for a fact has no existing 6 let alone 8 pin to go past PCIe. Not to mention, I was hoping for a PCIe vs power hungry test.

gtx 1650 is the best low profile graphics card, we also have to consider availability in the current chip shortage. So this worth it as of right now

Hilarious.. 1650 super just $10 dollars more… you can’t even buy a RX580 for less then £350/£400 second hand in the uk. The 1650 GDDR6 is going for over £300 second hand! 😞 at that rate might aswell buy Radeon 6600 for £450 🤷🏽‍♂️

Update 18 months later. Go ahead buy a used RX 570/580 and watch it die like my buddies. I bought a cheap Maxsun single fan GTX 1650 GDDR version for $130 at the same time and it still running good. Go ahead and buy that used GPU,your not as smart has you think you are.

Considering the results of this video, and the testing. I wonder if the people with the DDR5 version have tried providing additional power to the memory bus by keeping the core clocks low, and just trying to push the GDDR5 as far as they reasonably can.
And how would that compare to a traditional gpu overclock? Going for core clocks first, and then adding some memory speed increase.

You keep missing the point about this card. Yes, it's MSRP price to performance ratio isn't great. But people who buy this card don't use it for proper gaming rigs. They stick it in their cheap OptiPlex's just so they can do some gaming. In order to use the better price to performance ratio cards, that would mean a new motherboard, CPU, PSU.... etc. They would have to spend at least a few hundred dollars on top of the cost of a different card. So within that context, $150 to turn a PC they already own into a semi competent gaming set up isn't all that bad.

I bought a 1650 for $220, it performs like what I thought it would a 1060. I plan to keep it until AMD releases their 9000 series GPUs. 😅

At 75 watt TDP, the 1650 GDDR6 is the fastest 75 watt card in the world.. Far from pointless if your using an oem power supply

This didn't age well... i mean most GDDR6 overclock with +1500mhz on memory and +150 on core atleast. You can gain 15%-20% of performance, one of the reasons i didn't like this review Steve...
