10 TIPS ON CHOOSING A PLACE TO BUILD IN THE FOREST!

Water collectors are no longer invulnerable against mutants, though they are invulnerable against cannibals.
Stick trees can sometimes be cleared when you build over though, though you have to build low on them for them to be cleared, the collision on them stops about half way up, meaning the wont clear and they’ll poke through your floor boards if your floors are too high on them, best to avoid them.

The spot I have is 99% perfect the only downside is it's in an ok sticks area and the cannibals are showing up once in a blue moon :)

You know i kinda want to build my base in that lab with the vending machines problem is the things in that lab its a complete mess also part of me wants to build a base at the bottom of the sinkhole but if I do that im gonna die from the mutants jumping my ass so basically my two bases are in the 2 different locations one is on the island across the stream from the main cannibal camp with the cave that they hang you up in where you can find the compass and there is what i call a cannibal outpost nearby with a fish pond on the same island as my first base as for the other base im still working on its in the winter biome at that lake with a small cannibal camp just down the way where you can find the boars reason I was going to that camp was for the boars and gasoline but lately the gas wasn't showing up in the area im also looking for a good spot that has lots of snacks soda and batteries seeing that my bow has a flashlight attached to it to help me see when im fighting shit at night cause my vision is just horrible when its dark and im playing on ps5 but my game is for ps4

first time I played I ended built my base on a spot where there was no patrol routes, guess i just got lucky.

I always choose the islands off of the main one if you transport all of your goods via boat you’re safe so far I’m on day 50 I’m doing pretty damn good the only problem is starving I had to switch from eating animals and putting up snares two full lawn eating the cannibals I have the entire beach filled up with drying racks filled with limbs I keep the heads to use for the skulls for effigies but it’s working it’s a full on war though that I have started with the natives they see all of their comrades or what you would call tribe members on the drying rack but I have also encountered each and every tribe most terrifying of which being what I would call the skinheads which where the skin of humans on their faces the second one being the fire tribe Who cover their bodies in ash and are obsessed with throwing Molotavs

Ah, I built right in front of the main cannibal village not knowing what I was getting into. Day 65 and I have more walls and traps than actual buildings or storage

For my first playthrough, my plane crashed right outside the main cannibal village. I set up camp there, then wondered why I always seemed to get swarmed. Seeing the patrol routes, I now understand why.

i built my base near that one plane spawn where you spawn right next to the sea and near the yacht i think that was one patrol route you showed and yes it’s hard on day 13 i came across a grey armsy with a grey virginia and a chungy guy (i forgot the name) all three in a group but i chose it cause i like that spot and i’m pretty experienced i’m rn trying to get the 100 day achievement and i’m on day 49 rn so i’m making progress

HOW DID I BUILD MY BASE ON A MUTANT PATROL WHAT ARE THE ADS ?

I'm actually installed in the middle of the geese lake, and after 60 days, I still had no problem at all with the mobs. And it's on hard mode. There's no direct connection to my house, so, cannibals can't reach it. And mutants usually drown before they reach the foundations of my house. Of course, it means either swimming or ziplines to reach and leave my house.
The only real issue is that I spent so much time building my house that now, leaving it to find some ropes is super hard. The house is a safe zone (until the worm spawns), but the moment I go a bit further, there are patrols everywhere, since it's late game. And mutants appear regularly, too.

Every area has pros and cons. For me I want to move logs without trekking a insane distance. Edit: I built my base where three patrols cross and near cannibal village and in area with low sticks. I guess im gonna restart lol. I am really good at natural defenses. One reason Is you need less logs.

I've built a base around the containers and it has a good 'balance' between good defense and regular attacks, mostly from cannibals, for bone farming and stuff..

my favorite spot to build is 341 211 it has fresh water with the tiny stream it has rabbit spawns close by isnt on any patrol routes but is close to some and even on day 30 im only getting attacked by mutants maybe once every 4 days there is a route that mutants like to take behind the house but since you have the pit you only have to defend 3 sides of the house from them it also has lots of sticks and logs and plenty of deer

Build primaryily where you have enough sticks and some reliable way to het to clean water.

I built on a cliff pretty far south on the map that has TONS of Sticks, Logs, and animals. My only problem is that it’s slightly unappealing

I do get attacked pretty occasionally but it adds to the fun, plus I’ve gotten good at hiding from them

Is building on the largest islands a good idea? Because that is what I am thinking of doing

Me and my cousin were getting super mad cause what seemed like every 30 seconds we would get ambushed by cannibals and after watching this I realized we built on one of the red zones for a patrol route.

There's a large tree to the south between the yacht and cargo container is where I built my first base. Some annoyances with patrols so you'll probably need to get a wall up, but with the ocean and cliffs, you'll probably only need to build 3 sides. Lots of marigold in the area. As I've explored, I've built numerous bases through the map. I'm nearly 200 days and I haven't even progressed at all of trying to see my son. Just finding areas to wall off just to build more bases. Use terrain to your advantage, try building walls where your base is uphilil, makes it harder for cannibals to jump over them (Although that's pretty rare). Seal off all avenues they can enter, you'd be surprised how much land you can have for yourself to build just by sealing off a few accessible areas, although get the chainsaw before you do this as it can get pricy with logs. Finally, once you get some experience, start building more custom housing, its pretty fun!

I'm on the beach directly across from the Shipping Containers. Now I know why I keep getting kidnapped

I really like the spot where I've built my first camp. It's in front of the plane wreckage. I have sticks, rocks and logs whenever I need building materials. It's close to water and the water has fish in it. There's also aloe vera and marigold nearby that I can use to make health mix. The plane has supplies that I can use as well and there are watches nearby if I want to make bombs.

I really like that you take into account that some people want their land and base to look good.
That's the first thing I tried and I can't seem to find a good looking enough area to build so it kind of helps to know that pros like yourself still see that people are gonna want to build on land that looks visually pleasing.
Makes me feel less like a picky asshole and more of a visionary lol

Only building in the center of the main cannibal village - great loot and lots of bones grant me a lot of bone walls, + infinite hairspray refill

I really like building a for next to the crashed plane. Since food and water respawn, and cannibals and mutants can't get up there.

I built my main base around the plane and my spawn point was pretty great, next to geese lake so within my walls I have the camp with all the arrows and every time I go into the save everything respawns. I haven't had much problem with cannibals yet and I haven't seen a single mutant weirdly enough. TONS of sticks and it's pretty heavily forested surrounding - well not anymore, I have contributed to deforestation. I built a perimeter all the way down to the lake and a decent way around the plane too so I have a ton of space. A lot of blueberries within my walls too

when I was younger and I had a dream I was a area that looked like this game and I made a raft and I floated to a minecraft river and I got attacked by a monster and I woke up and this was before I knew about this game it lol

My base is in the sinkhole, because i like to be in a hole.

Made my builds around the plane back and back of the yacht. Got the warm suit and made a sweet little cabin on the front of the plane

There are a few stick trees & stick bushes on the hills near the biggest island in the game.. Which you categorised as "red" ..

What about the gulf? Is it any good?
