My theory is that the Bob's summoned from the glove are just avatars of bob. I think bob is supposed to be chaos itself so that's why it can never be defeated. Rob is a creation that has the same power as bob and is the opposite of him. The eternal bob is probably Bob's true form and when you defeat the eternal bob, you don't really defeat him because he is supposed to be chaos itself

Progress is being made, until one day, all is lost.
