One of the best tips I can give, buy these, 2PCS 3D Printer Platform for Building Plate and Magnetic Sheet, Flexible Steel Plate Flex Bed for 3D Printers. just remember to re-level the build plate after fitting them and scuff up the surface you print on, to help with adhesion.

Tip for FEP sheet tightness: Use a plastic soda bottle twist cap under the FEP sheet as you place it on the Bracket that holds it, it will give you enough slack to tighten it down perfectly on the vat, after tightening tap it with your finger and if it sounds like a drum you're good.

Pretty good tips, but you aren't quite right about not levelling; certain things can and will pull your plate out of alignment, albeit slowly. If you keep your prints fairly balanced across the area of the plate it will hold level, but printing big, uneven things will put more strain on that side and pull it down more. This won't be noticeable for the majority of hobby printers but it can cause issues over time or when you need exact dimensional precision.

I'll be honest, I have never, not once, had any issues with sunlight on my printer. No overcuring, nothing. Not sure what causes it in your case.

"I got this little tirck where I cut up a microfiber towel" WORST ADVICE EVER! Cutting up that towel will leave little bit of lint all over the FEP, don't do that.

You can clean the metal like new with acetone and or a heat gun and scrape the melting plastic and or heat it and wipe it with acetone.

I have to disagree with temperature, I live in the Scottish highlands, my printer sits by the open window in my spare room with no heater, the only failed prints I have had were due to levelling and poor planning when slicing. My room can’t be more than 7-8 degrees Celsius.

There may be one error in your advise, it depends on the actual resin that you are using. Formlabs resins definitely have a rated shelf life. According to formlabs most of the engineering resins have a 12 month life span which can be improved to a degree if the resin is stored in the cartridge rather than the build tank. I made the mistake of buying a large stock of various resins that I did not try to use aside from the standard modeling resin before I was informed of this aspect 8 months later. by the time I got around to changing to some of the other resins many had become less efficient and contributed to many failed prints. Particularly the flexible resins. a particularly expensive mistake.

I know nothing about 3D printing, but I am trying to learn from all these video presentations. Reading through the comments is literally a foreign language regarding terminology and processes. I am fast approaching retirement and am looking for a good hobby/pastime that complements my interest in model making and the comic book universe(s?) LOL

Thank you for your video.

I’m new resin printing. My recurring hit or miss issue is sometimes the print is successful but there’s a slight imperfection. The object fully printed but the base will not be balanced. Slight rocking after supports are removed. Then on the other hand the failed print will be a then flat piece resin. I have Halot One printer and I use chitubox the slice models. Any tips or ideas to help?

my prints are coming out all with thick, parallel, horizontal lines, is this because I damaged the FEP sheet?
it's like I have the layer thickness up to 1mm but I didn't change the specs, should still be 0.030 mm

IPA doesn't fog up the FEP. A foggy FEP doesn't affect prints. Scratches and dimples do . IPA is needed to sometimes remove bits stuck to the FEP . True you don't need to use IPA everytime but it is when you change resin types.

I wouldn't recommend leaving your resin in the vat. I used to do this until I got a pinhole in the fep and found a leak of resin around the printer.

There's a lot of misinformation in here that's simply untrue.. Firstly don't leave the resin tank filled with resin for more than a few months at most, I left mine for a year in one machine because it will evaporate the liquid and ruin the fep.. True story from experience. Secondly I always empty my tank and filter after every single print because if anything fell into the tank it could damage the glass when the build plate goes down, I've definitely heard of that happening.. there are better pro tutorials and tips than this

#1 is COMPLETELY WRONG. If you leave you resin in the tray there is some of it that solidifies at the bottom after every print, doing this repeatedly will ruin your way flim faster than cleaning it after every print (unless you don't know what you are doing when cleaning it), or even 1/2 way through the print. My films last 2x as long since I started cleaning every 4-6 hours, prints are way cleaner and no chunky stuff stiking to prints like when you leave resin for more thanone print. If you combine resins like the clear flexable kind mixed the grey stuff they will seperate when you leave it in the tray for some time. DO NOT DO THIS, you are going to create more problems than just taking the time to clean it and do it right.

You can leave the resin for weeks) in the vat , the key is move the resin a lot before print , mix well , dont worry for a week or 2 , resin dont evaporate like water , (i guess 😊) , use gloves , use a mask , and dont die 😊

Thanks for this video. We've had a resin printer for a while now but I've been barely using it because I hated the clean up so much. I was told I needed to empty the resin out and clean it because if we left it it would set, but now I know that keeping the UV out is better for lots of reasons.

Me being an idiot with sunlight: I had parts in the printer which I needed to clean off, my garage door was open, so I thought: it's a nice day out, I'll just take the print bed outside to remove and clean the parts. Of course all the excess resin instantly hardened as soon as the sunlight hit it. My part was ruined and I had a huge hassle trying to scrape all the hardened resin off my print bed. Whoops.

I have a question. Due to the general toxicity of the resin, what is the best way of throwing away dirty rags used to wipe away resin and supports? Normally, i'd let them out in the sun to cure before dumping them in the trash but that is not always possible (obviously during the night when i've made a big mess or during bad weather).
