I just watched it - it's one of those "the best worst movies" we ever see. Bought a used cd it adds so much more to the movie. ☮️💜✝️🇺🇸

He frustrated me so much. I thought he was selfish and irresponsible. He needed therapy, not a ridiculously planned trip to Alaska. His wasn't mentally or physically prepared, and he didn't even tell anyone about his plans. I'm not surprised he didn't survive.

What an idiot

Amazing movie, but awfully sad. If it wasn't for the sad ending it would seem he experienced true freedom and true friendship in his short life.His legacy encourages us to take an honest look at the lives we're living and the real value of 'truth'.

I don't think I drew the right lessons from the movie. It seems like an inexperienced kid wanted to go camping for a while, but wasn't actually ready. He was overly confident in going out to die.
I mean, "Happiness means nothing if it isn't shared," is something I've known since my teens. But I don't see why he went out to where he knew there was no way back.

He chose what he wanted and lived happily for a while, yet the ending was so sad due to tragic (and maybe stupid) mistakes
If only he had prepared for more and carried a map, he might have a happy ending

I need to see this movie.

The sad thing is that it is modern society that pushes people to seek the truth because we are living in such a fictitious thing and treating each other horribly. I admire him because he had the courage to walk away from the nonsense society, we live in that only value money and power and find the truth in the wild.

He was a freaking idiot.

He had schizophrenia. And no one helped him. Tragic.

It's a movie that will make you think a lot, and coming to conclusions isn't easy because it is based on a real guy with a lot of issues. A lot. The debate over his death wish vs his love for adventure is probably something that is each true depending on the day observed. Some days he probably was in it for the adventure and others he really had no problem at all dying. Taking 10 pounds of rice to survive on, and then only living four months from it, is not hard math, and he was very good at math. Two weeks away from being saved. That's the part that makes you go hmmmm even more than everything else, because it is filled with what if. A lot of what ifs in this film.

I thought Emile Hirsch did a good job starring in Into The Wild, one of the rare films where Emile took himself seriously as an actor.

He was a pure clean soul very rare thing!!!
