What was the best thing someone gave you because they didn't want it any more ? It could be broken or working. If broken, what did you do to fix it?

Thanks so much for this. We already bought a replacement but our element TV just out of the blue turned to a screen of white and black flickering lines. This solved it, so hey, great TV for the garage at least! Question though, maybe coincidence but at the same time this malfunction appeared, the bottom corner of the lcd screen looks like it's been damaged or hit. Did the short circuit fry something? Or maybe just bad coincidence.

I wish that every single TV repairman would learn this trick. I had a nice beautiful expensive 2011 HGTV LED that went bad a few years ago. Samsung replied that it wasn't worth fixing, Took it to local repairman who replaced the T-con board and some other part but couldn't fix the issue so he returned the parts and only charge me $40 for his time.
I didn't want to to litter the planet with another failed electronic so I search YT. Found this video from a kid from Philippines showing this exact trick.
I followed his instructions by the letter and VOILA! TV fixed. Still had some lines in it but I didn't want to push my luck so I buttoned up the TV. Still working to this day except just this past few days a shadow appeared in the upper left corner of the screen. Got any tricks for that?🤔

Thanks for this video. I'm currently working on a Sony 43XG8096. It has LG panel and TCON. Audio and backlight is working, but screen is black. If I remove left connector from TCON, that side of the TV turns white, so the problem must be in the panel on that side. I've tried taping off sync signals, but only when I tape up something near the middle things act different. Measuring on the flex PCB on the panel from the connector side, I can see that 2-3 caps seem shorted. How can I confirm that this is the case, and do I just remove them or do they need a replacement (I have no idea about the size, do I just wing it or what?).

I have a Samsung 3D TV and the picture is much brighter on both sides. I think there is a problem with the backlight.
Do you probably know a fix for that problem or do I have to replace the backlight?

Have a 10 year old Bravia XBR 55" LED. There are not 2 but 4 of these bands attached to TCON board. I could not isolate where the issue is coming from and gave up. Looks like there are used boards out there for $45 range. If I replace the TCO board do you this it will solve my horizontal line issue?

Frequently in my city we have facebook curb alerts. it’s pretty common for neighbors to put free items at the end of their driveways. I was running errands and I saw this LG 4K 75 inch tv at the end of my neighbors driveway, It was free.I saw that the lcd wasn’t cracked, immediately knew that whatever was wrong with it had to be small. Took it home, watched this video. Understood everything that was said. Followed these exact steps and I now have a working tv. this worked but after a few weeks it became worse, both sides have blank, horizontal and vertical lines, i ordered a new tcon board but it still the same

Hi...I changed the backlights on my smart 4k tv and still nothing..the lights turn on for a second and then go off..I did the flashlight test and yes I have image and sound..but the backlights still off

Hi I just tested mine and when I unplug the cable that powers the motherboard the rebooting stop but the backlight works perfectly

Hi , what does it mean if I unplug each of them but nothing changes? Even when removing both of them there is still the back-lit and reboot

I am happy to inform you that I followed your steps and was able to stick the tape to get the picture back. The issue of fine lines was still there but I did not have your patience to find which was the faulty line to cover it with tape. The way you took out time to showcase the issue and resolution is commendable. I had 3 engineers who told me that the TV's screen was gone and it would be replaced by paying 50% of the TV cost, a small piece of tape did what these engineers could not do.

hah, first tcl video i checked and i got the left side working just like the video by simply removing the right ribbon from it's insertion...now for the rest of it, i will let you know, i assume the boards are fine then. Is there a sequel video to this???

Hello FrugalRepair. My tv seems to have the same errors in de screen. If i detach 1 ribbon cable one half of the screen is white and the other half black. If I detach the other one all of the screen is black. I tried the taping method with a lot of combinations but none gave me good signal. Is there anything else I can do?

Hey I tried this and I got the lines narrowed down to one pin but it totally messed up the saturation when covered any ideas how to get around this?

Hi! My tv got hit by a door...gotta love kids. It will turn on but now there is blobs of color and veritical lines. There shows a crack where it hit when I turn it on. What would I need to replace to make it work?

I have also a 49" 4k tv samsung, and after 20 min the vertical lines dissappear, tried to press on the ribbon cables from the panel but no change.

My Toshiba 58 inch 4k turns on great picture and Sound no problem but the Colored vertical lines come on and go and back changed tcon board no change
