ОтветитьI vote for a Gordon Lightfoot theme song! 😁
ОтветитьI love it whne the histo indicate a nice middle mountain. It almost always takes a great big step up with auto-level but also seems to have much more play in the R or G or B leveling.
ОтветитьAnother excellent presentation; clean, crisp message with a purpose. Appreciate the Lr tip. Thanks Simon.
One question: U use a Mac, what key would I use instead of an ALT rep on a PC?
Nice tip for perfect exposure! Histograms are definitely a game-changer when it comes to nailing that flawless highlight. Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьHistograms scare the @#$%# out of me, but... one of the reason why you're on my subscribe list is you have a very sensible way to break things down for novice's like myself.
ОтветитьWith digital, I have always followed the advice of ETTR, or expose-to-the-right. The more information my sensor can gather without clipping, the better, since I can always make things darker without sacrificing detail.
In digital cinematography, this is pretty much critical. You light a scene brighter than you intend it to look, keeping your lighting ratios in mind for contrast, and then drag it all down in post, producing the least amount of noise.
I’ve been a serious hobbyist photographer since 1998 and film. Been shooting digital since the 20D. This is first time I’ve understood the histogram and how to use it. Thank you for your explanation and clarity.
ОтветитьNicely Explained. I knew how it works but your way of explaining was so good that I stuck around the whole video and ended up learning a bunch of new things
ОтветитьMantap nih! Histogram emang jadi lifesaver buat dapetin hasil eksposur yang pas. Bye-bye overblown highlights! 👌🏻
ОтветитьI wish that camera manufacturers had figired out how to put a histogram in the OVH of a DSLR. It's the one thing that might eventually force me to go mirrorless.
ОтветитьYes the histogram is a fantastic tool to have on your camera but not all cameras have them.
ОтветитьLast tip is very helpful!! Thanks for another useful video :)
ОтветитьWonderful explanation. Clear, loaded with common sense.
ОтветитьI'm just getting into photography, although I've been fascinated with it for years. I've seen a good few/several explanations of the histogram, and yours is the best hands-down! Thank you for sharing your understanding with us all!
ОтветитьI’ve probably liked less than 10 videos this year but this is one of them. Perfectly described.
ОтветитьVery helpful. I tend to get too dark. Watching this video, it give me better ways to set a camera. Thanks again
ОтветитьI have been learning a lot about sports photography for the last two years. Though my focus is on my son's and his team soccer activities, I find your videos to be the best tutorials. They helped a lot not just knowing the how, but also knowing the why which I really appreciate. Thank you
ОтветитьThis was a very helpful video. Thank you, Simon!
ОтветитьGreat to recap on , thank you Simon.
ОтветитьThanks for producing such an informative video on the Histogram. It is very useful on my astrophotography path. A BIG shout out to Nova Scotia, remember having such a good time whilst working at Big Cove YMCA in my youth.
ОтветитьNice one, Simon. I thought I could read a histogram but now I know where I've been going wrong on a lot of shots, so thanks!
ОтветитьThat is one of the first things I taught myself
ОтветитьSimply great explained
ОтветитьThe reason the back LCD can fool you is because it's based off the JPEG preview and not the RAW data even if you are sorting in RAW. the JPG had much less dynamic range than the Raw file and so if the LCD shows you've blown out your highlights a LITTLE your probably still OK once you get it into LIGHTROOM with the RAW. that's another reason to shoot in RAW or RAW+JPG mode.
ОтветитьSimon, this is by far the best video I have come across on histograms and how to avoid clipping highlights and shadows. You are an excellent trainer. Thank you.
ОтветитьGood teacher
ОтветитьCan't you just judge it from the on screen image of what's being taken? Surely the histogram is just another way of seeing the image, so it's not really necessary unless the user's mind functions by reverting real world visuals to a graphical representation?
Ответитьthanks, will make a huge difference for me!
ОтветитьBrill 👍🏻👍🏻
Ответитьjaw on floor. looks like everyone else said the same thing I was going to say.
ОтветитьFANTASTIC !!.. Superb explanation of histogram and how to read and use it. Best on you tube by far.
ОтветитьWhat about when you use flash?
ОтветитьYour videos are amazing.. Thanks so much. So very clear and helpful. 🙏
ОтветитьI having such a hard time, getting my histogram to turn on my Canon SL3, and this video just solved one of my biggest problems. Thank you so much
ОтветитьIn point
ОтветитьI forgot to say thanks for the excellent content! It's great getting inside kowledge from the pros, especially so when its presented in such a great format.
Ответитьhow about doing a photoshop cc training series for photographers
ОтветитьYour clear and accurate information without fluff or absurdity is so very much appreciated and is the best about photography i have ever seen! Bravo!
Ответитьre: lightroom trick at the end to hold alt key while using exposure slider to get color in image alert, I have a MACbook, no alt key what do i do?
ОтветитьReally great video.. Just got a new Sony .. Thanks.. very helpful..
ОтветитьWow thank you Simon, This Helps a Lot! 👍🏻
Ответитьthanks
ОтветитьYou always avoid mentioning Fuji ☝🏼 … Why?
ОтветитьI blow up my highlights because cameras are badly designed, simple iPhone has better ability to resolve highlights. It’s time manufacturers of cameras start making better cameras. We are busy in our lives, not everyone has time to dig deep into their cameras. Cameras need to be improved and fast, especially during AI era.
ОтветитьThank you, very helpful
ОтветитьLearning a lot from you. Thank you.
ОтветитьLove your channel. Very well thought-out and logical analysis. That being said, your opening soundtrack’s lyrics don’t really fit with your channel’s focus and your genre of photography…
ОтветитьThere's a lot of great photography channels, but I've never come across with someone with your ability to be clear through perfect speech tecnique, poise and attention to details. Congratulations.
