Haven't watched the video yet, so these are my thoughts on the topic. Yes it is widely rampant in desi culture. Light-skin desis are held in high regard whereas dark skin ones are treated as trash. Its truly horrific.

At some point I wonder do people think that you have been told all this bs about black people because of a race of people that enslaved a race of people are mad because a race of people aren’t slaves anymore and are free and even though a revolutionary war was fight and the winning side freed the slaves but the other race of people are still mad and some can’t accept the fact and pushed this anti black campaign that has lasted for a very long time. I’m happy I’ve met loving Indians my husband is Black and Indian (Jamaican) he has a few Indian friends ( in Jamaica) one is with a mixed woman (black and white) and his Indian mother hates black people and will never allow her son to marry a black or mixed woman despite her son being born and brought up in a Black Country 🤦🏾‍♀️ I’m sure she will set him up with a fair skinned Indian woman when that time comes.

The caste system is not arbitrary. You were supposed to be in a caste according to merit not birth.
Also the hindu scriptures outline very well how to treat lower caste members - you offer them kindness and if they need food then you give them every last morsel in the house even if you are royalty and they a beggar or worker...

BTW lowest caste according to Gita is meat eaters.

i was under the impression they made their Gods blue because the ocean and the sky are large expanses that are "endless" and the skin of the Gods matched that of both these expanses to give them the same quality via symbolism, but i was also under the impression part of the reason was because blue is a rare color in nature as is purple, i never looked at it like "Our Gods cant be black" Space is black but as far as ik, the sky and "space" to them equated to the same thing, and blue is simply prettier than black on a canvas and indians use LOTS of color. to me it JUST made sense they chose a color like blue. I never felt like oh, they cant be black. Blue and black to me in this instance were interchangeable

There is a lot of anti blackness among Indians but it's wrong to blame the ancient Hindu culture and "caste system". That stuff has nothing to do with race, you can't look at an Indian and determine what social group they belong to.

I'm an Indian woman who's lived in India all my life excoet for the past couple of years I've lived in the UK. Let me tell you, mate Indians really detest the dark skin. And that includes their own and becomes more vile when it's another race.

I sometimes feel so fortunate that I'm more light brown than dark because it makes a difference how you are treated based on your shade of dark lol. As fucked up as it sounds that's how it is.

Having a special interest in art and specifically paint with an indian grandather I always struggled understanding the religious aspect. This being because of the specific cultural paint production at the time, the art wasnt blue it just faded/oxidized do to time, humidity, light, exc. This can even be seen in white oil paintings such as van Gough's sunflower is brown not yellow because the pigment was made from dried/preserved/condensed fibers such as "sunflower yellow" being made from the pigment extracted from sunflower petals and a base.
